World v1.07 by Doug McDonald (mcdonald@aries.scs.uiuc.edu)
Ported by Julian Arnold (jools@arnod.demon.co.uk)
World is a ten year-old (in 1997 anyway) text adventure with the
emphasis on exploration and discovery. It's maybe not a great game in
many respects, but is very atmospheric.
For instructions on playing the game type "help" at the prompt.
To save a position type "save" and to restore a position type "restore."
If you just enter a filename to save/restore the file will be saved
to/restored from the CSD. To guarantee a save to/restore from the
!World.SavedGames directory prefix the filename with
"<World$Dir>.SavedGames." (recommended). "Save" will cheerfully
overwrite your files, so be careful!
Oh, adverbs are apparently needed in some instances.
That's about it. HAVE FUN!
PS-- There's a nice solution at
ftp://ftp.gmd.de/if-archive/solutions/worldsol.zip
It has a map, but this is in Micrografx Designer 6.0, PostScript, and
Adobe Acrobat PDF formats, none of which are easily read on RISC OS
computers (to my knowledge). Oh well, the solution, a list of objects,
and a score breakdown are all in plain text anyway.
