4. _K_n_o_w_n__P_r_o_b_l_e_m_s__a_n_d__W_o_r_k_a_r_o_u_n_d_s
+o Removing an attachment from the Compose window via
dragging the file icon into the Dumpster will remove
the original file from its home location. Instead,
select the file icon and choose Unattach from the right
mouse button pop up menu.
+o Dragging a file icon from the attachment area of the
Message or Compose window onto the desktop background
will leave the file in the detach.dir directory.
+o If your Mailbox is a linked file, new mail may not
arrive automatically. If this occurs, open a directory
view for the linked file.
+o If you run out of disk space while MediaMail is
running, and you update your mailbox, you may lose
messages that have arrived at your machine but have not
yet arrived in your mailbox. Do not update your mailbox
until you have freed up some disk space.
+o The <Num Lock> key does not work. You can force the key
pad to Num Lock by adding the following to your
.Xresources file:
ZZZZmmmmaaaaiiiillll****XXXXmmmmTTTTeeeexxxxtttt....ttttrrrraaaannnnssssllllaaaattttiiiioooonnnnssss:::: ####oooovvvveeeerrrrrrrriiiiddddeeee\\\\nnnn\\\\

+o Changing fonts via the Fonts dialog can have negitive
impact on the usability of the MediaMail graphical user
interface. It is recommended that you choose an iso8859
fixed width font preferably sony-fixed or sgi-screen.
+o Buttons do not resize correctly when their font is
changed.
+o Turning off all the panes, or resizing a window very
small, can result in the loss of window elements. If
this occurs, restart MediaMail.
- 2 -
+o You can not Unpreserve a message, you must delete it.
+o The list of Aliases in the Aliases dialog does not
automatically scroll to the newly added alias. You must
manually scroll the list to see the addition.
+o In a composition, you can not select and then paste
more than 3998 characters using the middle mouse
button. Also, you can not paste over a selection using
the middle mouse button. The selection is deleted and
nothing is pasted in its place.
+o You can not search for the "[" character in a received
message using the Search dialog. Use the Pattern Search
dialog instead.
+o If you set the _w_r_a_p_c_o_l_u_m_n variable to 80, and use an
external editor to compose your message, the column
will wrap at 79 characters when returning to the
MediaMail editor. To prevent this from occurring, unset
the _a_u_t_o_f_o_r_m_a_t variable.
+o Occasionally this error message appears:
XXXX EEEErrrrrrrroooorrrr ####1111:::: <<<<BBBBaaaaddddWWWWiiiinnnnddddoooowwww ((((iiiinnnnvvvvaaaalllliiiidddd WWWWiiiinnnnddddoooowwww ppppaaaarrrraaaammmmeeeetttteeeerrrr))))>>>>
XXXXGGGGeeeettttWWWWiiiinnnnddddoooowwwwPPPPrrrrooooppppeeeerrrrttttyyyy rrrreeeettttuuuurrrrnnnneeeedddd 1111!!!!
This is harmless and occurs when a previous copy of
MediaMail exits abnormally.
+o Attaching or detaching attachments with backslashes or
single quotes in the file name causes unexpected
results.
+o Filters are not run on new mail that is discovered
during an update.
+o Cutting 8-bit characters from an Emacs window and
pasting them into a MediaMail composition has
unexpected results.
+o If a message has a "From " line, but no "From:" line,
the _p_i_c_k -_f command will never find the message.
+o Attachments of type message/rfc822 are not displayed
correctly if they do not have rfc822 headers.
+o MediaMail occasionally takes a very long time to open
very large folders read-only.
- 3 -
+o MediaMail does not refuse to attach an empty file.
+o Word wrapping doesn't work properly with multibyte
fonts.
+o The addresses constructed when _a_u_t_o__r_o_u_t_e is set may be
incorrect if you reply to a message from an address
containing multiple (!-separated) UUCP hosts.
