  74.          1.  If the environment variable _L_M__L_I_C_E_N_S_E__F_I_L_E is
  75.              defined, it is assumed to be the name of a file
  76.              containing FLEXlm licenses.  Multiple files can be
  77.              specified by separating them with a colon (':').
  78.              Files listed in the definition of _L_M__L_I_C_E_N_S_E__F_I_L_E are
  79.              checked for licenses first.

  81.          2.  If the environment variable _L_M__L_I_C_E_N_S_E__D_B is defined,
  82.              it is assumed to be the name of a "license file
  83.              database", a file defining a list of files and/or
  84.              directories to be checked for licenses.  If
  85.              _L_M__L_I_C_E_N_S_E__D_B is not defined, the file
  86.              "/_v_a_r/_f_l_e_x_l_m/_l_i_c_e_n_s_e_f_i_l_e._d_b" is used.

  88.              The format of a license file database is one file or
  89.              directory per line.  Comments are indicated by a pound
  90.              sign '#' in the first column of the line.  Blank lines
  91.              are ignored.  Trailing and/or leading whitespace is
  92.              not allowed on a line.

  94.              Any directory listed in the file is searched for
  95.              filenames matching "*._d_a_t".  Any subdirectory is also
  96.              searched (recursively).

  100.              license file database, the file
