3. _N_e_w__F_e_a_t_u_r_e_s__a_n_d__B_u_g__F_i_x_e_s
This chapter lists the major changes and additions to
Annotator 1.1 since the 1.0 release.
+o Annotator 1.1 is based on Inventor 2.1, which has
considerable performance improvements over Inventor
2.0. You must install the Inventor 2.1.x Execution
Only Environment to run Annotator 1.1.
+o For security reasons, you want to be careful about
executing unknown System Call Notes. Annotator 1.1 has
several new features that help you avoid potentially
dangerous system calls when playing an unknown
document:
When you read in a file while in VIEW-ONLY mode,
Annotator 1.1 will warn you if there are any System
Call Notes in the file.
The ``Notes'' menu has new items to allow you to view
all system calls in the current Annotator file (without
executing them), and to disable/enable the playback of
System Call Notes. These menu items are accessible in
both VIEW-ONLY and EDIT mode.
The ``-s'' command-line option disables the playback of
all System Call Notes.
+o Annotator 1.1 will always start in VIEW-ONLY mode.
Annotator 1.0 would start in VIEW-ONLY mode if a file
was specified on the command line, and in EDIT mode if
no file was specified. To change to EDIT mode, select
``Edit'' from the ``Edit'' menu.
+o In Annotator 1.0 there was a bug that prevented you
from saving a file to a disk partition that is larger
than 2 gigabytes. This has now been fixed.
+o Annotator 1.1 uses FLEXlm to monitor licenses. (Note
that a license is only required to use Annotator in
Edit mode; View-only mode is always available). If you
already had a permanent license for Annotator 1.0, the
installation process will automatically give you a new
license for Annotator 1.1.
