  21.             product and this driver will not work without the
  22.             license.

  52.             level 2 interpreter.  The PostScript interpreter is an
  53.             Adobe CPSI implementation (version 2015).  See the

  55.             see two copies of psrip(1) running for every print job
  56.             (psrip(1) forks a copy of itself when it starts).

  74.           +o The PostScript interpreter uses a FLEXlm node-locked
  75.             software license.  Without the license it will not
  76.             work.  All HP and Epson printer drivers require the
  77.             PostScript interpreter.  Impressario will start
  78.             printing warning messages on the banner page 90 days
  79.             prior to a license expiring (the banner page is forced
  80.             on in this case).  Once a license has expired
  81.             Impressario will only print a notice that the license
  82.             has expired -- the job will not print.  Emergency
  83.             licenses are available from the Silicon Surf web page
  84.             at http://www.sgi.com/Products/license.html.

  86.           +o The impr_rip and impr_rip_printers sub-systems are no
  87.             longer installed by default.  These contain the printer
  88.             drivers that use the PostScript interpreter.

  91.             850/855C, and 1600C color inkjet printers and  the HP

  168.             the base operating system starting with IRIX 6.2 (they
  169.             are found in the dps_eoe.sw.dpsfonts sub-system).  The
  170.             font tools found in impr_fonts.sw.gifts have also been
  171.             moved to the base operating system starting with IRIX
  172.             6.2.

  174.           +o The Printer Manager will now list SCSI devices that
  175.             identify themselves as CPUs (i.e. some dye-sublimation
  176.             printers).  Since some scanners also identify
  177.             themselves as CPUs it is possible to see a scanner
  178.             listed as a SCSI printer (there is no way to avoid this
  179.             as long as printer and scanner vendors identify their
  180.             SCSI devices as CPUs).

  183.             list a connection type if there is a driver installed

  224.           +o A new ASCII text to PostScript filter is available:
  225.             text2ps(1).  All Impressario drivers now use text2ps to
  226.             convert ASCII text files to PostScript.

  228.           +o A new logical AND operator is now supported in POD
  229.             config files for Impressario driver developers.  The
  230.             logical AND operation allows a list of fonts specified
  231.             in the POD config file to be ANDed with a directory
  232.             name.  Typically you would AND a list of fonts
  233.             supported by a printer with the list of fonts in the
  234.             /usr/lib/DPS/outline/base directory to create the list
  235.             of fonts displayed on the glp options panel. This is
  236.             only done when using a printer's built-in PostScript
  237.             interpreter.  (This is done because text2ps(1) requires
  238.             the font metrics to format a page correctly and you
  239.             would not want to list a font available on the printer
  240.             when the corresponding font metric is not available on
  241.             the host for use by text2psi(1)).  See
  242.             /usr/lib/print/data/lexmarkoptra_model.config for an
  243.             example.

  245.           +o text2pcl has been updated to support A3 and B paper
  246.             sizes.  text2pcl has also been changed to allow 66
  247.             lines to fit on an A sized paper.

  273.             developers should not be checking for it in their model
  274.             files.  Note that the file name is also a command line
  275.             argument to fileconvert(1).  Future versions of
  276.             fileconvert(1) will 'map' the
  277.             /usr/lib/filetype/workspace.ctr to a replacement name
  278.             (a default Optimized Type Rule, OTR, will be used in
  279.             the future).  Since CTRs (Compiled Type Rules) will not
  280.             be supported in future IRIX releases developers should
  281.             check their model files to make sure they are not using
  282.             any other CTR files.
