  10.        This document describes the features of release 2.1 of the
  11.        Impressario software for IRIX.  Impressario is a visual
  12.        printing and scanning environment for SGI workstations.  It
  13.        consists of an optional host-based Adobe PostScript
  14.        interpreter, printer drivers, scanner drivers, text
  15.        processing tools and the Impressario Developer's Kit.

  17.        Impressario 2.1 may be distributed with some new hardware
  18.        bundles, software bundles and to IRIX 6.* users with a
  19.        support contract WITHOUT the FLEXlm node locked license for
  20.        the Adobe PostScript interpreter.  A license must be
  21.        purchased if you wish to use the Adobe PostScript
  22.        interpreter.  Many of the printer drivers require the Adobe
  23.        PostScript interpreter (for details see section 2,
  24.        Installation Information).

  26.        Quick list of what is new in Impressario version 2.1 versus

  37.        Note:  Packaged with your software is a separate sheet that
  38.               contains the Software License Agreement.  This
  39.               software is provided to you solely under the terms
  40.               and conditions of the Software License Agreement.

  43.        The Impressario software provides a visual printing and
  44.        scanning environment.  It contains drivers for sending print
  45.        jobs to a printer connected to an SGI workstation via a
  46.        parallel, serial, SCSI, or network connection.   All
  47.        Impressario printer drivers maintain status information in a
  48.        printer object database.  The Graphical Scan tool allows you
  49.        to view data from a scanner, file, or workstation display
  50.        and send the data to a printer, file, or workstation
  51.        display.  The Scanner installation tool provides a simple
  52.        interface for installing and configuring scanners on your
  53.        workstation.

  55.        The PostScript interpreter is an Adobe Level II CPSI
  56.        implementation (version 2015).  The PostScript interpreter
  57.        is a separate purchase option and uses a node-locked
  58.        software license.  Many of the Impressario printer drivers

  79.        The Impressario Developer's Kit allows application and
  80.        driver developers to create software that fully supports
  81.        printing and scanning in a manner that is consistent with
  82.        the Impressario architecture.

  84.        IMPORTANT: If your printer or scanner is already installed,
  85.        you must delete and reinstall it using the printer manager
  86.        or scanner manager to take advantage of new features in
  87.        Impressario 2.1.  See Chapter 2 IIIInnnnssssttttaaaallllllllaaaattttiiiioooonnnn IIIInnnnffffoooorrrrmmmmaaaattttiiiioooonnnn for
  88.        details.  An exception are printer clients running IRIX 4.*.
  89.        IRIX 4.* users should not delete and reinstall existing

  146.        (the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view the release notes on
  147.        your screen.

  150.               products before installing the software.  Refer to
  151.               the booklet in your CD-ROM case for more information.

  154.        the Help submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
  155.        _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser for the online release notes.
