ConneXions---The Interoperability Report
by Ole J. Jacobsen <ole@csli.stanford.edu>
The November 1992 issue of ConneXions takes a look at a serious
problem currently facing the Internet: The growth in the number of
hosts and networks is causing depletion of the 32-bit address space
and stressing the architecture. Several efforts are underway to solve
this problem, and each is outlined in this issue.
The December issue continues a long-running series of articles,
"Components of OSI," with a look at conformance testing. Also in the
December issue, you will find two network management case studies as
well as a report from INET '92, and several book reviews.
The January 1993 issue will continue with yet another OSI article,
this time an overview of the International Standardized Profiles
(ISPs). This issue also has an article about the Message Send
Protocol, a SLIP case study, and an article entitled "Inside an IETF
Plenary." A brief overview of the politics of the NREN is also
included.
We are pleased to offer all Internet Society members a 20% discount on
ConneXions subscriptions. For more information, a free sample issue,
and a list of back issues, send a message to <connexions@interop.com>.
