Biochemistry Journals: Tables of Contents

BioNet Electronic Newsgroup Network.
This network was developed to allow easy worldwide communications
between biological scientists who use a variety of computer
networks. Newsgroup topics can be distributed to sites on Inter-
net, USENET, BITNET, EARN, NETNORTH, HEANET, and JANET. Unix
computers access the newsgroups via software like rn (read news)
or nn (nonews).
BioQUEST.
BioQUEST is a set of simulations and related material for biology
instruction (genetics, biometrics, molecular biology, etc.).
It's a cooperative effort of several academic institutions.

Buckyball database.
This fullerene database is accessible via anonymous ftp at:
physics.arizona.edu. login: ftp passwd: your email address. It
is found in: /usr/ftp/asc. The site has a program called PCBIB
that allows searches of the database by keywords. The resource
is based on materials from Professor Richard E. Smalley's Bucky-
Ball Bibliography. It can also be searched by telnetting to:
sabio1.library.arizona.edu login: sabio. Choose "Other data-
bases" from the menu.

The Chemistry Gopher at Yale is an excellent example of a re-
source that leads through Gopherspace for topics such as chemical
software, funding information, directories of scientists, etc.

Port=7000 Path=1/Chemistry. You can get to this from a
UNIX machine which has gopher with the command: gopher

"Chemistry Information" is an electronic reference source cover-
ing such topics as nomenclature, compound identification, proper-
ties, structure determination, toxicity, synthesis, registry
numbers, and synthesis. It also provides definition of terms,
meanings of acronyms, etc. To acquire the files, FTP to:
ucssun1.sdsu.edu /pub/chemras. Use binary and the mget *.*
command to transfer all files to an IBM DOS-compatible PC.

Clay, SEE: MaterialBase
Clearinghouse for Chemical Information Instructional Materials
(CCIIM)
The CCIIM is jointly sponsored by the Special Libraries Associa-
tion Chemistry Division and the American Chemical Society Divi-
sion of Chemical Information. It includes items that have been
developed by chemistry or science librarians, chemists, and
others for instruction in the use of chemical information
sources. Paper copies of most materials in the CCIIM are avail-
able for the cost of reproduction, but many of the titles are
also available as ASCII files in the FTP archives of the Indiana
University Center for Innovative Computer Applications
(gopher.cica.indiana.edu) in the directory /pub/chem. The com-
plete list of holdings is found in the list: cciimlst.xxx, where
xxx represents the date of the latest version.
CMTS-L, the Chemical Management and Tracking Systems List.
CMTS-L serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas on the estab-
lishment of computerized systems to manage chemical inventories.

MaterialBase Database
A misnomer if there ever was one! This is a factual database on
clays, located at San Diego State University. I wish I knew
where! I've used it once, and it has such data as MW, Molecular
Analysis, and Percentage Analysis. Please let me know if you
find it!
