  27.   1. Report on the RARE WG3 meetings held in Zurich, Switzerland.
  28.      Reported by Joyce K. Reynolds.
  29.      The RARE WG3 USIS Working Group and the IETF User Services Working
  30.      Group are working in parallel.  Jill Foster, Chair of USIS,
  31.      concurs.  The RARE WG3 Working Group provides first level services
  32.      to end users.  The IETF User Services Working Group have
  33.      traditionally provided second level services (i.e., providing
  34.      documentation to people who provide services to end users).  RARE
  35.      WG3 will continue to provide first level services, while IETF User
  36.      Services will provide ``information packets'' and other user
  37.      services documentation.  RARE will delegate their members to
  38.      actively work on IETF working groups.
  39.   2. Revision of User-Doc Working Group - Presented by Lenore Jackson &
  40.      Ellen Hoffman, User-Doc Co-chairs.
  41.      Discussion focused on the revision of its charter, establishing
  42.      procedures on updating the bibliography, additional objectives, and
  43.      future goals.
  44.   3. QUAIL - presented by Gary Malkin.
  45.      Brief discussion and comments of an updated Quail document for
  46.      ``new Internet users''.  The updating of this document is necessary
  47.      due to the transition of DDN NIC services from SRI to GSI. The
  48.      current structure/formatting of the document was also discussed.
  49.   4. SIGUCCS draft - Martyne Hallgren.  Written by ACM Siguccs
  50.      Networking Taskforce.
  51.      Martyne's taskforce intends to submit this draft into the

  59.      ``Internet-Drafts'' process, with the end result being an FYI/RFC.
  60.      She brought this document into the USWG forum for comments and
  61.      feedback.
  62.      Document title - ``Connecting to the Internet - what connecting
  63.      institutions should anticipate''
  64.      Abstract:  This memo outlines the major issues an institution
  65.      should consider in the decision and implementation of a campus
  66.      connection to the Internet.  The list of issues is not exhaustive
  67.      but rather this document should alert decision makers to major
  68.      concerns to be addressed in the critical phases of an institution's
  69.      full participation in the Internet community.
  70.      Martyne received positive comments on this draft.  This draft is
  71.      akin to the "INCH" task on the USWG list of "things to do".
