  6. Minutes of the User Documents Revisions Working Group (USERDOC2)

  8. A small, but dedicated group attended the USERDOC2 session---the last of
  9. the User Services groups to meet in Seattle.
  10.  
  11. A revision of FYI 3 was distributed, and was generally approved by the
  12. group with some minor revisions.  The document, available as an
  13. Internet-Draft (draft-ietf-userdoc2-fyi-biblio-00.txt), will be
  14. corrected and reviewed one more time on the user-doc mailing list.  Any
  15. additions or corrections should be sent to Ellen Hoffman within the next
  16. two weeks, then a final version will be posted and sent on through the
  17. official FYI process.  The new bibliography focuses on in-print books
  18. and on-line sources, as the number of articles in periodicals makes it
  19. difficult to develop the kind of comprehensive bibliography done in
  20. early 1990.

  22. As soon as FYI 3 is completed, a revision of the short bibliography for
  23. novices, FYI 19, will be developed as well to reflect the many new
  24. sources of material that have become available since last year.
  25. Volunteers were requested to help narrow down the long list in the draft
  26. of FYI 3 so that a shorter bibliography can be produced.  The goal is to
  27. have FYI 19 revised and completed by the next IETF.

  29. The future of the working group, already raised in the earlier USWG
  30. session, was again discussed.  Plans are to conclude the USERDOC2
  31. Working Group after the next IETF, when both FYIs 3 and 19 will be
  32. completed.  Future revisions of these documents are recommended as a
  33. yearly exercise, but it was generally agreed that in the future this
  34. could be accomplished within USWG rather than creating a new working
  35. group.
