  28. The focus of the USERDOC2 Working Group is on identifying and locating
  29. documentation about the Internet. A major activity is the revision of
  30. an existing bibliography of on-line and hard copy documents/reference
  31. materials/training tools addressing general networking information and
  32. ``How to use the Internet'' (RFC 1175, FYI 3). This effort will also be
  33. used to help locate documentation produced by other organizations and
  34. examine the means by which such documents are made available on the
  35. Internet. The target audience is those individuals who provide services
  36. to end users and end users themselves. The group is also developing a
  37. new FYI RFC document designed as a very short bibliography targeted at
  38. novice users.
  39.  
  40. The USERDOC2 Working Group will:
  41.  
  42. (1) Identify and categorize useful documents, reference materials,
  43. training tools, and other publications about the Internet, particularly
  44. those available on-line.
  45.  
  46. (2) Publish on-line and hard copies of the bibliographies produced and
  47. other reference material on documentation as needs are identified.
  48.  
  49. (3) Develop and implement procedures to maintain and update the
  50. bibliography and investigate methods to provide the information in an
  51. on-line format.
  52.  
  53. (4) As a part of the update process, identify new materials for
  54. inclusion in the active bibliography and identify additional needs
  55. which are required for locating documentation and other publications.
  56.  
  57. (5) Review procedures for periodic review of the bibliography by the
  58. User Services Working Group.
  59.  
  60. (6) Examine methods for delivering documentation and work with
  61. providers to improve the availability of basic Internet documentation.

  66.      Done       Identify new ``sources of information'' (e.g., individuals, 
  67.                 mailing lists, bulletins, etc.) Review existing document and 
  68.                 obtain comments from others in USWG about needed revisions at 
  69.                 the San Diego IETF.

  71.      Done       Publish an Internet-Draft of the short bibliography for novice 
  72.                 users.
