  26. Description of Working Group:

  28. A "mobile ad-hoc network" is an autonomous system of mobile routers (and
  29. associated hosts) connected by wireless links--the union of which form 
  30. an
  31. arbitrary graph. The routers are free to move randomly and organize
  32. themselves arbitrarily; thus, the network's wireless topology may change
  33. rapidly and unpredictably.  Such a network may operate in a standalone
  34. fashion, or may be connected to the larger Internet.
  35.  
  36. The focus of the working group will be to standardize an intra-domain
  37. unicast routing protocol which efficiently reacts to topological changes
  38. while maintaining effective routing.  The goal is to support networks
  39. scaling up to hundreds of routers.  If this proves successful, future 
  40. work
  41. may include development of other protocols to support additional routing
  42. functionality.

  44. The working group will examine the security issues around this protocol.
  45. They will consider the intended usage environments, and the threats that
  46. are (or are not) meaningful within that environment.
