  29. The Emergency Information Infrastructure (EII) Project is an effort
  30. to foster the development and application of advanced telecommunications
  31. networks in support of the emergency management community as a whole.
  32.  
  33. The ``emergency management community'' includes government agencies,
  34. community-based organizations, businesses and corporations, media,
  35. and the public.  At one time or another, virtually everyone takes 
  36. some role in the emergency-management community.
  37.  
  38. This session will bring together leaders in network technology
  39. with practitioners of emergency management to identify ways the
  40. Internet can help communities adapt, adjust, and overcome both
  41. large-scale disasters and day-to-day emergencies.
