  25. Description of Working Group:

  27. The goal of this working group is to develop and review revised
  28. versions of RFC 821 and RFC 822, incorporating the revisions in RFC
  29. 974, RFC 1123, and RFC 1651.
  30.  
  31. In addition, the group will review other RFCs related to messaging, and
  32. determine the applicability of each of these to the future direction of
  33. the messaging in the Internet. The group may choose to incorporate,
  34. deprecate, or write applicability statements for such documents, as
  35. necessary to produce a clear statement of requirements for overall
  36. interoperability of Internet electronic mail.
  37.  
  38. The documents produced by the working group are intended to be
  39. submitted to the IESG for consideration as Internet Standards.
  40.  
  41. Items appropriate for inclusion in documents produced by the working
  42. group include corrections, clarifications, and amplifications to
  43. reflect existing practice or to address problems which have been
  44. identified through experience with Internet mail protocols. New
  45. functionality is expressly inappropriate.
