  28.   The Internet Acounting Working Group had the goal of producing 
  29.   standards for the collection of accounting data within the Internet
  30.   to support a wide range of management and cost allocation policies.
  31.   This Internet Accouting 2 Working Group (acct2) continues by
  32.   publishing the Accounting Architecture and Accounting Meter MIB RFCs
  33.   as quickly as possible.

  35.   The 'accounting model' is a generalized model for accounting data,
  36.   covering the adjacent, peer and transport layers for several network
  37.   protocols (IP, IPX, EtherTalk, DECnet and CLNS).  This will be
  38.   developed further to include the application layer.

  40.   File formats for accounting data storage are also of interest.  
  41.   Standardization of these would facilitate data exchange between 
  42.   accounting and billing systems (e.g., telco systems.)   The working
  43.   group will also produce a requirements document for the further use
  44.   of accounting data.

  46.   The RMON Working Group is also interested in monitoring traffic flows 
  47.   between pairs of hosts, an activity which is already covered by the
  48.   accounting meter MIB.  This group will consult with RMON on this
  49.   topic.  Other working groups (such as NASREQ and AAC) are also
  50.   interested in accounting issues; this group will consult with them to
  51.   ensure that such issues are addressed in a consistent way.
