  9. The BOF began with a presentation by Lee Chastain, Testing BOF Chair, of
  10. the Joint Interoperability Test Center's OSE Conformance Testing
  11. Laboratory (OCTL). The presentation covered the mechanics of the
  12. Internet Protocols Testing Program (IPTP), what is being tested, how the
  13. test process is implemented, how the results will be used and what is
  14. being done.  This presentation lasted more than an hour, with the
  15. primary concern from the group being that the DoD Center for Standards
  16. is referencing outdated standards.  As this was beyond the control of
  17. the OCTL, the group identified it as a problem area and moved on.

  22. Discussion continued after the presentation, with participants
  23. expressing concern in the following areas.

  25. A description of the tester was requested.  The MOT is realized in
  26. public domain software.  The current version operates on a Sun
  27. workstation or a PC equipped with an OPUS card that provides the Sun
  28. functionality.

  30. The referenced MIL-STDs being out-of-date means that the MOT is
  31. out-of-date.  An updated set of MIL-STDs is close to being published.
  32. As the MIL-STDs are updated, the MOT will be updated.  The requirement
  33. was recognized that RFCs may need to be updated and pertinent sections
  34. from other RFCs be consolidated within the base RFC.

  36. When Sun platforms were mentioned some concern was noted about the
  37. IP/TCP software having problems with current RFCs.

  39. The recommendation to establish an e-mail group to facilitate discussion
  40. of conformance testing and the IPTP was made and Chris Wellens offered
  41. to set up a listserver to establish the mail group.
