  8. Minutes of the SNMP Application Monitoring BOF (SAM)

  10. The Group decided that the current draft was basically a good idea.
  11. Very few people had read the draft.  But much interest was expressed.
  12.  
  13. The Group wants to be a working group, and adopted the name ``Mail And
  14. Directory MANagement'' - or MADMAN for short.  It should be in the
  15. Applications Area, not the OSI Area.  Marshall Rose recommended against
  16. the Network Management Area, because it is trying to focus on the
  17. NETWORK management.
  18.  
  19. Steve Hardcastle-Kille will write the Charter.
  20.  
  21. Ned Freed will set up mailing list and archives.
  22.  
  23. All agreed that the right format was three documents:

  26.   1. An ``applications'' MIB (probably to be renamed a ``Server MIB'',
  27.      since it was rather connection type oriented; a spreadsheet would
  28.      not fit) editor Ned Freed
  29.  
  30.   2. A ``Mailserver MIB'' Editor Ned Freed.

  32.   3. A ``Directory server MIB'' Editor Steve Hardcastle-Kille
  33.  
  34.        o There is a limit to be drawn between the (already large) host
  35.          MIB and this MIB.
  36.        o The exact MIB structure needs polishing.
