  50. 1. Can I obtain information about the petroleum industry from the Internet?

  52.    Many petroleum companies, research organizations and academic departments
  53.    make information available on publically accssible Internet servers.  
  54.    These servers can have special Internet addresses but there is a convention
  55.    that more and more organizations are following.  This convention makes 
  56.    the address of the server be the type of server followed by the domain 
  57.    name of the organization.  For example, the ftp server of the Petrotechnical
  58.    Open Software Corporation would be ftp.posc.org.
  59.  
  60.    Below are the domain names of many of the petroleum organizations on
  61.    the Internet.  The server names to prepend to these domain names are:

  2783. Wisconsin?  What are the deepest canyons in the United States? (The answer
  2784. might surprise you!) While the answers to many of these questions might be
  2785. as close as an encyclopedia, some questions are difficult to answer
  2786. without checking many sources. The USGS now offers a new, experimental
  2787. Internet service - Ask-A-Geologist. All electronic mail to Ask-A-Geologist
  2788. will be routed to the geologist of the day.  The geologist will reply to
  2789. your question within a day or two, or provide referrals to better sources
  2790. of information.  All questions and answers will be part of the public
  2791. record.  After collecting questions and answers for a few months, we will
  2792. make a Frequently Asked Questions list (with answers) available via
  2793. anonymous FTP and World-Wide-Web. We encourage grade school and high
  2794. school students with electronic mail access to send in questions -- but we
  2795. can't write your reports for you! In limited testing, we've had an
