E-mail lists are the easiest way to obtain information on running. However,
the mail volume can become increasingly large and your mail-box becomes
clogged when you are subscribed to a number of these toys. The tone is
sometimes informal to more scientifically oriented in other lists.

E-mail lists normally have two adresses, one to subscribe and one to send

   The Dead Runners Society is a discussion group for people who like to
   talk about running. The group is informal and social and all memebers try
   to encourage each other in their running programs. Traffic is heavy.

   DRS Sublists
   There also exist many regional mailing lists (in Cleveland, for
   example, they have the DRNEO - Dead Runners of NorthEast Ohio

Part III

Usenet was THE net. You only need a newsnet reader and server and you can
subscribe to thousands of lists and read a zillion contributions each day.
Most of the discussions are informal, especially the sports oriented ones.
The newsgroups you can access depends also on the usenet server which supports
your site, e.g. not all nl.* groups can be read in the Japan (I doubt if any).
So some of these groups I have from heresay, of others I was able to check
their existence.

  lot of servers yet.

aus.running
  Down under they do it themselves. Not all providers (at least not at our
  university) carry this group.

  a.h.h.h is the original internet hashing newsgroup.
  Unfortunately, very few computer systems carry it so
  traffic is low.

alt.org.h-h-harriers
  The a.o.h-h-h newsgroup was created in the summer of 1994
  a.o.h-h-h isn't carried widely

freenet.rec.runners.group-hash
  This is the newsgroup of the Cleveland HHH; it's available
  on the Cleveland Free-Net (freenet-in-a.cwru.edu).

fsu.freenet.running
  The newsgroup of the Tallahassee & Area HHH is based on the
  Tallahassee Free-Net (freenet.scri.fsu.edu).
