  19. This memorandum provides a mechanism for representing objects which
  20. are files of Machine-Readable Cataloging records (MARC).  The MARC
  21. formats are standards for the representation and communication of
  22. bibliographic and related information.  A MARC record contains
  23. metadata for an information resource following MARC format
  24. specifications.

  26. This memo provides information for the Internet community.  It does
  27. not specify an Internet standard of any kind.  Distribution of this
  28. memo is unlimited.

  30. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
  31. Requests to be added to or deleted from the IETF distribution list
  32. should be sent to IETF-REQUEST@IETF.ORG.  Requests to be
