  17. Management information is viewed as a collection of managed objects,
  18. residing in a virtual information store, termed the Management
  19. Information Base (MIB).  Collections of related objects are defined in
  20. MIB modules.  These modules are written using a subset of OSI's
  21. Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1).  It is the purpose of this
  22. document to define that subset.  This is a product of the SNMP Version
  23. 2 Working Group and the SNMP Security Working Group of the IETF.

  25. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  26.  
  27. This RFC specifes an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  28. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  29. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  30. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
  31. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
