  24. The management protocol, version 2 of the Simple Network Management
  25. Protocol, provides for the exchange of messages which convey
  26. management information between the agents and the management stations.
  27. The form of these messages is a message "wrapper" which encapsulates a
  28. Protocol Data Unit (PDU).  The form and meaning of the "wrapper" is
  29. determined by an administrative framework which defines both
  30. authentication and authorization policies.  It is the purpose of this
  31. document to define the operations of the protocol with respect to the
  32. sending and receiving of the PDUs.  This RFC is the product of the
  33. SNMP Version 2 Working Group of the IETF.

  35. This is now a Draft Standard Protocol.
  36.  
  37. This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the
  38. Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for
  39. improvements.  Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet
  40. Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and
  41. status of this protocol.  Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
