  17. In the Administrative Model for SNMPv2 document (RFC 1445), each
  18. SNMPv2 party is, by definition, associated with a single
  19. authentication protocol and a single privacy protocol.  It is the
  20. purpose of this document to define one such authentication and one
  21. such privacy protocol.  This is a product of the SNMP Version 2
  22. Working Group and the SNMP Security Working Group of the IETF.
  23.  
  24. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  25.  
  26. This RFC specifes an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  27. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  28. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  29. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
  30. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
