  19. RIP Version 1 (RFC 1058) has been declared an historic document.  This
  20. Applicability statement provides the supporting motivation for that
  21. declaration.  The primary reason, as described below, is the Classful
  22. nature of RIPv1.  This RFC is the product of the Routing Area Working
  23. Group of the IETF.

  25. This memo provides information for the Internet community.  This memo
  26. does not specify an Internet standard of any kind.  Distribution of
  27. this memo is unlimited.

  29. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
