  13. This document defines the NCP for establishing and configuring the
  14. Internet Protocol over PPP, and a method to negotiate and use Van
  15. Jacobson TCP/IP header compression with PPP.  This RFC is a product of
  16. the Point-to-Point Protocol Working Group of the Internet Engineering
  17. Task Force (IETF).
  18.  
  19. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  20.  
  21. This RFC specifies an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  22. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  23. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  24. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
  25. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
