  20. This memo defines two extensions to the SMTP service.  The first
  21. service enables a SMTP client and server to negotiate the use of an
  22. alternate DATA command "BDAT" for efficiently sending large MIME
  23. messages.  The second extension takes advantage of the BDAT command to
  24. permit the negotiated sending of unencoded binary data.  This RFC is a
  25. product of the Mail Extensions Working Group of the IETF.

  27. This memo defines an Experimental Protocol for the Internet
  28. community.  This memo does not specify an Internet standard of any
  29. kind.  Discussion and suggestions for improvement are requested.
