  19. The protocol specification for SOCKS Version 5 specifies a generalized
  20. framework for the use of arbitrary authentication protocols in the
  21. initial socks connection setup. This document describes one of those
  22. protocols, as it fits into the SOCKS Version 5 authentication
  23. "subnegotiation".  This RFC is the product of the Authenticated
  24. Firewall Traversal Working Group of the IETF.

  26. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  27.  
  28. This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the
  29. Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for
  30. improvements.  Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet
  31. Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and
  32. status of this protocol.  Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
