- Selective Uninstall is a program provided only with preinstalled systems.
- Selective Uninstall allows you to remove operating system files, programs, and
- device drivers that you do not need from the system.
-
- Warning: Do not remove files from your preinstalled system unless you have
- backed up the system, or you are certain that you do not need the files you are
- removing. Selective Uninstall deletes the files from your system.
-
- To remove files from the system:
-
- 1. Select Welcome.
- 2. Select Configuration Tools.
- 3. Select Selective Uninstall.

- For additional help, select the Help push button after the Selective Uninstall
- window is displayed.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Help for Selective Uninstall Utility ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- Use Selective Uninstall to selectively remove unneeded features of the
- operating system from your system.
-
- The check mark next to a feature means the feature will be removed when the
- Uninstall push button is pressed. If you do not want to remove that feature,
- use the mouse or arrow keys to select the check box, then use the spacebar to
- remove the check mark.

- If a feature has a More push button to its right, select More to see additional
- choices. For example, if you want to remove only some of the information units
- that come with the operating system, select Documentation. Then, select More
- to see a list of the information units. When the list is displayed, remove the
- check mark from the units you do not want to remove.

- Select Serial Device Support if your system does not need any devices such as

- The Serviceability and Diagnostic Aids feature is used to gather information to
- isolate and correct system problems, primarily for reporting a problem to your
- technical coordinator. If you do not plan to report problems, you can reclaim
- approximately .6 megabytes by removing these programs.

- The Optional Bit Maps feature is used to display alternative background
- pictures for the desktop. If you do not want alternative background pictures,
