  3. LAN Network Manager 1.1 PTF UR42384 supercedes LAN Network Manager 1.1 PTFs
  4. UR40623, UR40085 and UR39203.  This PTF includes all changes from all 
  5. previous PTFs. This PTF also includes the following fixes/enhancements :

  7. ENHANCEMENTS:
  8.  
  9. | 1. Resolutions to alerts can now be filtered from going to NetView.

  12. | 2. A resolution is now created for Bridge Threshold Exceeded alerts

  17. FIXES TO PROBLEMS:

  19. |1. A SYS3175 in PMSHAPI.DLL when exiting LAN Network Manager has
  20. |   been fixed.

  22. |2. A problem was fixed where Link and Unlink are grayed out on the Action
  23. |   bar and the only way to recover was exit and start LNM back up.

  38. LAN Network Manager PTF UR40623 - MultiSystem Manager support  
  39. incorporates the following changes:

  42. ENHANCEMENTS:
  43.  
  44. 1. Resolutions to alerts are now forwarded to NetView.  Previously, these
  45.    were only logged in the Event Log at LAN Network Manager.
  46.  
  47. 2. Some topology changes like 'linked to a bridge', 'monitored adapter
  48.    definition changed' etc. are also forwarded to NetView to enable MSM
  49.    to update RODM and hence reflect the topology changes at GMFHS.

  52. FIXES TO PROBLEMS:
  53.  
  54.  
  55.  1. A problem has been fixed where the user had a lot of remote bridges
  56.     and was getting DFIPD1131E followed by DFIPD1305E.  (APAR IR24794).
  57.  
  58.  2. A problem was fixed where Link and Unlink are grayed out on the Action
  59.     bar and the only way to recover was exit and start LNM back up.

  62.  3. A problem was fixed where the original LNM commands (not the enhanced 
  63.     CLIST commands) could result in a SYS3175 or DFI500 Syntax error.

  68.  5. A problem was fixed where after a lot of LSM  activity the program would
  69.     would eventually cause a SYS3175 in EVYDLR.DLL.

  71.  6. A new version of GV/2 (1.1.7) is being shipped with this PTF.

  73.  7. A problem where DFIPD446 would be logged when it should not be, when
  74.     the segment resync failed has been fixed.

  76.  8. A SYS3175 in DFIAIP.DLL has been fixed.

  78.  9. A problem where SYS3175s would occur in DFINIC.DLL and DFINIP.DLL was fixed.
  79.     Another problem where Syntax Errors were being produced for valid commands
  80.     was also fixed.

  82.  10. A problem was fixed where LNM hangs the machine during initialization
  83.      was fixed.

  85.  11. A SYS3175 in DFICMC.DLL, when running on PCNet segments was fixed.

  90. LAN Network Manager PTF UR40085 incorporates the following changes:
  91.  
  92.  
  93. 1. A problem has been fixed where on OS/2 2.0 and above, the LNM icon would
  94.    remain hatched after LNM has been shut down normally.  Clicking on the
  95.    icon after LNM was shut down would cause the window list to display, and
  96.    LNM would not start.  If you are running with OS/2 2.0, this problem is
  97.    fixed with this PTF.  If you are running with OS/2 2.1,  you will need to
  98.    apply OS/2 APAR PJ08829 and this PTF in order to get rid of the problem.
  99.  
  100. 2. A problem where the LAN Network Manager timers would not always pop has
  101.    now been fixed.  This should fix several problems including:
  102.    O Adapter monitoring comes to a stop after initially working.  Any
  103.      adapters that leave after that point will not generate an alert.
  104.    O LAN Network Manager indicates a status of Soft Error even long after
  105.      the soft errors have cleared.
  106.  
  107. 3. A problem where LNM lost 40 bytes of memory for every original CLIST
  108.    command issued from NetView has been fixed.  There were many different
  109.    symptoms for this problem, but LNM performance would always degrade
  110.    over time, and LNM would eventually fail. (APAR IR23220)
  111.  
  112. 4. A problem where bridges failed to autolink has now been fixed. (APAR
  113.    IR23242)
  114.  
  115. 5. A SYS3175 error in DFIERC.DLL should now appear less frequently. (APAR
  116.    IR23342)
  117.  
  118. 6. A new version of GV/2 (1.1.5) is being shipped with this PTF. This
  119.    version fixes several problems, including SYS3715s in various EXQ*.DLLs.
  120.  
  121. 7. The QNETWORK STATUS RUNCMD should now return information for all bridges.
  122.  
  123. 8. The ADAPTER LIST command has been changed to function like it did in
  124.    LAN Network Manager 1.0, and only return the active adapters on the
  125.    segment.
  126.  
  127. 9. It is now possible to filter based on alert ID for alerts that are not
  128.    generated by LAN Network Manager (DFIPD399 alerts).
  129.  
  130. 10. The remote bridge icon will now come up as a lightening bolt, even if
  131.    the definition has just been added and the view has not been recreated.
  132.  
  133. 11. Display labels will now be saved even if the view has not been refreshed.
  134.     The label positions will remain the same after an automatic refresh.
  135.    Note: for this fix to take effect, you must either delete your *.VIE files
  136.    in the LM11 directory, or select the labels you want displayed and then
  137.    save the view.
  138.  
  139. 12. Message DFIPD446 should no longer be logged in cases where there is no
  140.    actual access violation.
  141.  
  142. 13. A problem has been fixed where the Stations window would "disappear".  It
  143.    could be retreived by finding the icon-sized window, which was off the
  144.    screen.
  145.  
  146. 14. CAUs that are outside of the LNM managed domain and not on a segment
  147.    in the qualifier list will no longer show up in the CAU list or register
  148.    with LNM.
  149.  
  150. 15. Several SYS3175's in various modules, including DFIGIMH.DLL, have been
  151.    fixed.
  152.  
  153. 16. An endless loop in RUPOLL when requesting to delete or change polling
  154.    on segment 000 has been fixed.
  155.  
  156. 17. When linking to multiple ports on a 6611 bridge, the message bridge link
  157.    failed, RC=16 should not appear unless the request is attempted
  158.    immediately after a prior request.
  159.  
  160. 18. Several changes have been made to the sample queries, including a change
  161.    to delete the total remote link utilization field, which was misleading.
  162.    This field has been replaced by the link utilization in each direction.
  163.  
  164. 19. The message DFIPD326 will now only be logged once per occurance on
  165.    segments that are not linked.
  166.  
  167. 20. Various problems have been fixed in the list box which displayed when
  168.    multiple bridges were requested to link or unlink, and one or more
  169.    failed.
  170.  
  171. 21. The message "message 43 not found" will no longer appear after enabling
  172.    a CAU for Remote Program Update.
  173.  
  174. 22. The transfer facility will now import the CAU location for CAU 
  175.    definitions.
  176.  
  177. 23. A SYS3175 in DFIGICAU.DLL that would occur when selecting PRINT from
  178.    a device level view when no printers are defined has been fixed.

  188. ENHANCEMENTS:
  189.  
  190. 1. It is now possible to communicate with CAUs across unlinked bridges.
  191.  
  192. 2. Several changes have been made to save customization of graphical views.
  193.    Specifically, the following information is now saved in the view files:
  194.    - Positions of labels and text
  195.    - Positions of tackpoints, including remote bridge tackpoints
  196.    - Display-label options
  197.    - Zoom level
  198.  
  199. 3. An extra utility (RUPOLL.EXE) has been included, which will poll
  200.    segment utilization at regular intervals and store it in the database.
  201.  
  202. 4. A performance enhancement was made to allow the LAN Network Manager program
  203.    to handle more bridge performance logging activity without data loss.
  204.  
  205. 5. A performance enhancement was made to allow the LAN Network Manager program
  206.    to better handle large numbers of LAN Station Manager stations.
  207.  
  208. 6. A new field, MICROCODE_LEVEL, has been added to the CONFIGURATION table in
  209.    the database.  This field stores each adapter's microcode level.
  210.  
  211. 7. A new command, LAN HELP, has been added to the command line interface.
  212.    Various other enhancements have been made to the command line help text
  213.    in order to provide more useful information.
  214.  
  215. 8. It is now possible to migrate station definitions from the LAN Network
  216.    Manager program Version 1.0 without having any location definitions.
  217.  
  218. 9. When manually linking multiple bridges, there is now an option to receive
  219.    just one confirmation box, instead of getting one for each bridge.
  220.  
  221. 10.The Remote Program Update program (DFIRP.EXE) now shuts down gracefully
  222.    when it encounters network error conditions.  To restart it, just type
  223.    'START DFIRP.EXE' from an OS/2 command line.

  227. FIXES FOR THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS:
  228.  
  229. 1. Several traps that had occurred using the LAN Network Manager program
  230.    Version 1.1 on OS/2 2.0 with the OS/2 2.0 Service Pack are now fixed.
  231.  
  232. 2. A problem is now fixed in which 'Message 1197 not found' was displayed
  233.    on certain machines when attempting to open a device level view.
  234.  
  235. 3. The EVT LIST and EVT QUERY commands are now properly enabled to work
  236.    in all countries.
  237.  
  238. 4. Error messages no longer appear about missing fonts on XGA machines
  239.    with the pre-installed version of OS/2 2.0.
  240.  
  241. 5. Dataloss 37 is now less likely to occur because the release of
  242.    data link control (DLC) buffers is now handled more efficiently.
  243.  
  244. 6. The segment level view now filters out 'rebel' splitter and trace adapters
  245.    that had been displayed as unattached to the CAU when the CAU did not
  246.    report the adapters.
  247.  
  248. 7. LNM is now able to consecutively refresh multiple views with
  249.    automatic refresh set to OFF.
  250.  
  251. 8. A problem where textual-mode LNM would hang when restarted from Netview
  252.    or the OS/2 command line has been fixed.
  253.  
  254. 9. The LIBPATH in CONFIG.SYS is now correctly updated even when the LIBPATH
  255.    statement is more than 300 characters long.
  256.  
  257. 10.A problem is now fixed where message 1106 was displayed when opening
  258.    segment level views of segments where a CAU had been deleted.
  259.  
  260. 11.When a segment type changes (for example from 4 to 16 MBPS Token Ring), this
  261.    change is now reflected in the network level view the next time a bridge to
  262.    the segment is linked.
  263.  
  264. 12.Alert filters can now reliably block or pass multiple types of generic
  265.    alerts.
  266.  
  267. 13.Some problems in the 'print event details' function are now corrected.
  268.  
  269. 14.On several panels, some fields that had been misaligned or truncated on
  270.    XGA monitors are now displayed correctly.
  271.  
  272. 15.Some help panel omissions are corrected.
