LAN NETWORK MANAGER 1.1 PTF UR42384
LAN Network Manager 1.1 PTF UR42384 supercedes LAN Network Manager 1.1 PTFs
UR40623, UR40085 and UR39203. This PTF includes all changes from all
previous PTFs. This PTF also includes the following fixes/enhancements :
ENHANCEMENTS:
| 1. Resolutions to alerts can now be filtered from going to NetView.
| See READ.ME for more detailed information. (APAR IR26805)
| 2. A resolution is now created for Bridge Threshold Exceeded alerts
| (DFIPD187W).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIXES TO PROBLEMS:
|1. A SYS3175 in PMSHAPI.DLL when exiting LAN Network Manager has
| been fixed.
|2. A problem was fixed where Link and Unlink are grayed out on the Action
| bar and the only way to recover was exit and start LNM back up.
| (APAR IR24796)
|3. A problem was fixed where RUPOLL failed with SQL0818 error.
| (APAR IR25924).
|4. A problem was fixed where LNM hangs the machine or a DFIPD990E
| Module Id = 12002 Location Id = 1 error occurs. (APAR IR26704)
|5. A SYS3175 in DOSCALL1.DLL CS:EIP = 1744 or a DFIPD990E
| Module Id = 12001 Location Id = 4 error occurs has been fixed.
| (APAR IR26844)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAN Network Manager PTF UR40623 - MultiSystem Manager support
incorporates the following changes:
ENHANCEMENTS:
1. Resolutions to alerts are now forwarded to NetView. Previously, these
were only logged in the Event Log at LAN Network Manager.
2. Some topology changes like 'linked to a bridge', 'monitored adapter
definition changed' etc. are also forwarded to NetView to enable MSM
to update RODM and hence reflect the topology changes at GMFHS.
FIXES TO PROBLEMS:
1. A problem has been fixed where the user had a lot of remote bridges
and was getting DFIPD1131E followed by DFIPD1305E. (APAR IR24794).
2. A problem was fixed where Link and Unlink are grayed out on the Action
bar and the only way to recover was exit and start LNM back up.
(APAR IR24796)
3. A problem was fixed where the original LNM commands (not the enhanced
CLIST commands) could result in a SYS3175 or DFI500 Syntax error.
(APAR IR24797).
4. A SYS3175 in DFIUTC.DLL was fixed in APAR IR24795.
5. A problem was fixed where after a lot of LSM activity the program would
would eventually cause a SYS3175 in EVYDLR.DLL.
6. A new version of GV/2 (1.1.7) is being shipped with this PTF.
7. A problem where DFIPD446 would be logged when it should not be, when
the segment resync failed has been fixed.
8. A SYS3175 in DFIAIP.DLL has been fixed.
9. A problem where SYS3175s would occur in DFINIC.DLL and DFINIP.DLL was fixed.
Another problem where Syntax Errors were being produced for valid commands
was also fixed.
10. A problem was fixed where LNM hangs the machine during initialization
was fixed.
11. A SYS3175 in DFICMC.DLL, when running on PCNet segments was fixed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAN Network Manager PTF UR40085 incorporates the following changes:
1. A problem has been fixed where on OS/2 2.0 and above, the LNM icon would
remain hatched after LNM has been shut down normally. Clicking on the
icon after LNM was shut down would cause the window list to display, and
LNM would not start. If you are running with OS/2 2.0, this problem is
fixed with this PTF. If you are running with OS/2 2.1, you will need to
apply OS/2 APAR PJ08829 and this PTF in order to get rid of the problem.
2. A problem where the LAN Network Manager timers would not always pop has
now been fixed. This should fix several problems including:
O Adapter monitoring comes to a stop after initially working. Any
adapters that leave after that point will not generate an alert.
O LAN Network Manager indicates a status of Soft Error even long after
the soft errors have cleared.
3. A problem where LNM lost 40 bytes of memory for every original CLIST
command issued from NetView has been fixed. There were many different
symptoms for this problem, but LNM performance would always degrade
over time, and LNM would eventually fail. (APAR IR23220)
4. A problem where bridges failed to autolink has now been fixed. (APAR
IR23242)
5. A SYS3175 error in DFIERC.DLL should now appear less frequently. (APAR
IR23342)
6. A new version of GV/2 (1.1.5) is being shipped with this PTF. This
version fixes several problems, including SYS3715s in various EXQ*.DLLs.
7. The QNETWORK STATUS RUNCMD should now return information for all bridges.
8. The ADAPTER LIST command has been changed to function like it did in
LAN Network Manager 1.0, and only return the active adapters on the
segment.
9. It is now possible to filter based on alert ID for alerts that are not
generated by LAN Network Manager (DFIPD399 alerts).
10. The remote bridge icon will now come up as a lightening bolt, even if
the definition has just been added and the view has not been recreated.
11. Display labels will now be saved even if the view has not been refreshed.
The label positions will remain the same after an automatic refresh.
Note: for this fix to take effect, you must either delete your *.VIE files
in the LM11 directory, or select the labels you want displayed and then
save the view.
12. Message DFIPD446 should no longer be logged in cases where there is no
actual access violation.
13. A problem has been fixed where the Stations window would "disappear". It
could be retreived by finding the icon-sized window, which was off the
screen.
14. CAUs that are outside of the LNM managed domain and not on a segment
in the qualifier list will no longer show up in the CAU list or register
with LNM.
15. Several SYS3175's in various modules, including DFIGIMH.DLL, have been
fixed.
16. An endless loop in RUPOLL when requesting to delete or change polling
on segment 000 has been fixed.
17. When linking to multiple ports on a 6611 bridge, the message bridge link
failed, RC=16 should not appear unless the request is attempted
immediately after a prior request.
18. Several changes have been made to the sample queries, including a change
to delete the total remote link utilization field, which was misleading.
This field has been replaced by the link utilization in each direction.
19. The message DFIPD326 will now only be logged once per occurance on
segments that are not linked.
20. Various problems have been fixed in the list box which displayed when
multiple bridges were requested to link or unlink, and one or more
failed.
21. The message "message 43 not found" will no longer appear after enabling
a CAU for Remote Program Update.
22. The transfer facility will now import the CAU location for CAU
definitions.
23. A SYS3175 in DFIGICAU.DLL that would occur when selecting PRINT from
a device level view when no printers are defined has been fixed.
(APAR IR24049)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAN Network Manager PTF UR39203 incorporates the following changes:
ENHANCEMENTS:
1. It is now possible to communicate with CAUs across unlinked bridges.
2. Several changes have been made to save customization of graphical views.
Specifically, the following information is now saved in the view files:
- Positions of labels and text
- Positions of tackpoints, including remote bridge tackpoints
- Display-label options
- Zoom level
3. An extra utility (RUPOLL.EXE) has been included, which will poll
segment utilization at regular intervals and store it in the database.
4. A performance enhancement was made to allow the LAN Network Manager program
to handle more bridge performance logging activity without data loss.
5. A performance enhancement was made to allow the LAN Network Manager program
to better handle large numbers of LAN Station Manager stations.
6. A new field, MICROCODE_LEVEL, has been added to the CONFIGURATION table in
the database. This field stores each adapter's microcode level.
7. A new command, LAN HELP, has been added to the command line interface.
Various other enhancements have been made to the command line help text
in order to provide more useful information.
8. It is now possible to migrate station definitions from the LAN Network
Manager program Version 1.0 without having any location definitions.
9. When manually linking multiple bridges, there is now an option to receive
just one confirmation box, instead of getting one for each bridge.
10.The Remote Program Update program (DFIRP.EXE) now shuts down gracefully
when it encounters network error conditions. To restart it, just type
'START DFIRP.EXE' from an OS/2 command line.
FIXES FOR THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS:
1. Several traps that had occurred using the LAN Network Manager program
Version 1.1 on OS/2 2.0 with the OS/2 2.0 Service Pack are now fixed.
2. A problem is now fixed in which 'Message 1197 not found' was displayed
on certain machines when attempting to open a device level view.
3. The EVT LIST and EVT QUERY commands are now properly enabled to work
in all countries.
4. Error messages no longer appear about missing fonts on XGA machines
with the pre-installed version of OS/2 2.0.
5. Dataloss 37 is now less likely to occur because the release of
data link control (DLC) buffers is now handled more efficiently.
6. The segment level view now filters out 'rebel' splitter and trace adapters
that had been displayed as unattached to the CAU when the CAU did not
report the adapters.
7. LNM is now able to consecutively refresh multiple views with
automatic refresh set to OFF.
8. A problem where textual-mode LNM would hang when restarted from Netview
or the OS/2 command line has been fixed.
9. The LIBPATH in CONFIG.SYS is now correctly updated even when the LIBPATH
statement is more than 300 characters long.
10.A problem is now fixed where message 1106 was displayed when opening
segment level views of segments where a CAU had been deleted.
11.When a segment type changes (for example from 4 to 16 MBPS Token Ring), this
change is now reflected in the network level view the next time a bridge to
the segment is linked.
12.Alert filters can now reliably block or pass multiple types of generic
alerts.
13.Some problems in the 'print event details' function are now corrected.
14.On several panels, some fields that had been misaligned or truncated on
XGA monitors are now displayed correctly.
15.Some help panel omissions are corrected.
