  14.  ABSTRACT:
  15.  
  16.  SAA013.EXE & SAA008.EXE, together, are the current maintenance
  17.  patch for SAA 1.3B and must be used together.  The patch is
  18.  recommended for all SAA 1.3B installations and for all SAA 1.3
  19.  installations that have installed the PTF 410 series.  Do Not
  20.  Apply to COMMEXEC and NWSAA versions below 1.3.42!  Check
  21.  Product Options Under "Load Install" First!  NOTE: SAA008 HAS
  22.  NOT changed. Please apply SAA013 and SAA008 before calling Tech
  23.  Support.

  34.  SYMPTOM
  35.  
  36.  General Symptoms
  37.  1. Not compatible with NetSoft and DCA emulators.
  38.  2. Unexpected disconnects.
  39.  3. Failure to attach with Password Encryption turned on.
  40.  4. Multiple line RUNCMD responses limited to 110 characters.
  41.  5. Problems gathering statistics through SSM.
  42.  6. Problems using the verb CNOS.
  43.  7. If user terminated a session when running the DCA emulator
  44.  using mod 5, subsequent users would get 4B? on the OIA line
  45.  when trying to get a new session.
  46.  8. Definite response with pacing on, caused sense code 200A.
  47.  9. Test frames being sent causing the link to reset.
  48.  10. 3174 X.25 RPQ failure to connect with NWSAA.
  49.  11. Several different state transition errors; event=1 state=5
  50.  and event=7 state=7.

  60.  2. RTS toggled to Low even if CSCON was configured to set it

  63.  3. Spurious interrupt/missed poll messages.

  65.  4. Pressing Attention during a Logoff could result in a Profile

  68.  5. Failure to re-establish connection with host.

  77.  Symptoms WITH SNALINKS
  78.  1. Even when SNALINKS was configured for Auto Connect, after a
  79.  link was downed, the connection might not be brought up
  80.  automatically.

  84.  1. "Unable to open file"
  85.  2. Downstream LUs unable to establish host sessions.
  86.  3. Unable to copy between a 1.3 and a 1.4 Communication Server.

  89.  6. After a profile was copied onto a NetWare 4.01 server, an
  90.  attempt to run CSCON from the same NetWare drive would cause
  91.  the workstation to hang.
  92.  7. The use of SAACOPY, then CSCON, could result in the DOS
  93.  prompt being changed to "%p".
  94.  8. SAACopy set the wrong model number.

  173.  Installation Instructions:
  174.  1. Install this patch ONLY IF you have NetWare for SAA 1.3B or
  175.  have installed the PTF410 series.
  176.  
  177.  2. Put SAA013.EXE into an empty directory, called SAA013, on a
  178.  hard disk or network drive.  Make sure the directory path is
  179.  available to the server(s) you are updating.
  180.  
  181.  3. Unzip SAA013.EXE.
  182.                    SAA013  <Enter>
  183.  
  184.  4. Have you ever applied SAA008?  If you have, you are
  185.  currently at version 1.3.46.  If you are currently at version
  186.  1.3.46 skip to step #6.  Do NOT apply SAA008 a second time.
  187.  
  188.  Put SAA008.EXE into an empty directory, called SAA008, on a
  189.  hard disk or network drive.  Make sure the directory path is
  190.  available to the server(s) you are updating.
  191.  
  192.  5. Unzip SAA008.EXE.
  193.  
  194.    SAA008  <Enter>
  195.  
  196.  6. Do a CSDOWN so that COMMEXEC will not be running.
  197.  
  198.  7. LOAD Install.
  199.  
  200.  8. Select Product Options.
  201.  
  202.  9. Press <Insert>. You should select the directory path created
  203.  above ie, sys:\saa013 or c:\saa013
  204.  
  205.  10. Select server to update.
  206.  
  207.  11. Press <Enter>.
  208.  
  209.  12. Wait for the update to complete.
  210.  
  211.  13. Press <Esc>.  You should see NWSAA 1.3.60
  212.  
  213.  14. If you have never applied SAA008, press <Insert>.select
  214.  directory path for SAA008 ie, sys:\SAA008 or c:\SAA008.
  215.  
  216.  15. Select the server to update.
  217.  
  218.  16. Press <Enter>
  219.  
  220.  17. Wait for the update to complete.
  221.  
  222.  18. Press <Esc>.  You should see COMMEXEC 1.3.46.
  223.  
  224.  ***!!!!!! IMPORTANT NOTE:
  225.  
  226.  Never manually copy COMMEXEC.NLM or NWSAA.NLM into the system.
  227.  The install scripts must be used!  If you copy in manually, the
  228.  version information will be incorrect.  If you have ever
  229.  applied an ETF that required copying NWSAA.NLM into the system
  230.  directory manually, please recopy the NWSAA.NLM that was on the
  231.  system just prior to installing the ETF, and then be sure the
  232.  version number under Product Options for NWSAA is lower than
  233.  the one in this patch.  If an ETF was applied with an install
  234.  script, you do not have to recopy NWSAA.NLM (however, be sure
  235.  the version you have is lower than the one in this patch).  If
  236.  the version number is equal than or greater than the one to be
  237.  installed by this patch, the install will fail.
  238.

  241.  19. Reload COMMEXEC.
  242.  
  243.  20. Reload the profile.
  244.  
  245.  21. Copy the new STRNRTR.EXE and NOVELLRT.OVL over any copies
  246.  that may exist outside of the SYS:\SYSTEM\NWSAA\AS400
  247.  directories.
  248.  
  249.  22. Read SAACOPY.TXT for instructions on the use of SAACOPY.
  250.  Please note that there was a patch to SAACOPY that created an
  251.  incorrect directory.  The INCORRECT PATH is
  252.  SYS:\SYSTEM\SAACOPY.  Please delete the contents and the
  253.  directory.  The CORRECT directory path is
  254.  SYS:\SYSTEM\NWSAA\SAACOPY.  SAA013 will install the files here.
  255.  
  256.  23. The CONFIG.SYS for the workstation from which you run
  257.  SAACOPY must contain FILES=20 (or greater).  If it does not,
  258.  you will receive the following error message when you try to
  259.  back up or restore SAA service files:
  260.  
  261.    MESSAGE
  262.  
  263.    Unable to Open File
  264.  
  265.  24. If you are using the MPA board: The new MPA driver uses
  266.  interrupt 3 and is non-shareable, run reference setup to make
  267.  sure no other device uses Interrupt 3!
  268.  
  269.  25. If you are using the MPA board with OS/2: Load MPASDLC
  270.  Name=board mode=ns
  271.  
  272.  26. In order to use 3174 X.25 RPQ you must use the ROUTE.NLM
  273.  provided with this patch and load it with the GBR option!
  274.  (specifies that all General Broadcast frames are to be sent as
  275.  All Routes Broadcast Frames.)  Please also note that the new
  276.  ROUTE.NLM must be manually copied to the system directory in
  277.  the event that the route you have installed is older than the
  278.  one provided here.
  279.  
  280.  Patch History:
  281.  
  282.  SAA013 supersedes SAA001, SAA003, SAA004, and SAA007.
  283.  SAA001 contained CSMPX.NLM dated 2/17/94, which randomized
  284.  CSLIST.  Such randomization is not desirable at many sites.
  285.  
  286.  SAA001 and SAA002 superseded PTF 443, PTF 435 and PTF 438.
  287.  These files also replace the NetWire file SAACPY.EXE that
  288.  introduced the problem of restored downstream LUs being unable
  289.  to establish host sessions and PTF 431 that was the first PTF
  290.  for SAA 1.3B.
  291.  
  292.  SAA008 superseded SAA002.
  293.  
  294.  Solution Specifics: (for some of the symptoms listed above)
  295.  
  296.  GENERAL
  297.  
  298.  1. CMTCP.NLM modified to handle multiple QELs in a single
  299.  packet.  This was done for compatibility.
  300.  
  301.  4. RUNCMD responses will now be limited to 220 characters.  If
  302.  in excess of 220 characters, will be truncated.  Single line
  303.  RUNCMD responses will be broken down into 220 character chunks.
  304.  
  305.  6. When changing the number of sessions (CNOS) from X to Y,
  306.  must be at 0 first before the change can be made.
  307.  
  308.  9. DLM.NLM and LLC8022.NLM modified so that test frames will be
  309.  turned around once the link is established.
  310.  
  311.  12. Many fixes for LU6.2, including adding sense code for FMH-7
  312.  10086040,CNOS fixes, chaining and bracketing fixes,etc.
  313.  
  314.  13. DLM.NLM modified.
  315.  
  316.  SOLUTIONS RELATED to R3SDLC & SDLCS
  317.  
  318.  5. R3SDLC and SDLCS were modified so that DTR is not toggled
  319.  when SAA receives a disconnect command in a leased line
  320.  configuration.
  321.  
  322.  8. SDLCS.NLM modified so that the link will no longer fail to
  323.  come up when a DISC immediately follows a SNRM/UA.
  324.  
  325.  SAACOPY
  326.  
  327.  4. Connections will now clear.  They had not been, and as new
  328.  connections were made the maximum number would be reached.
  329.  
  330.  8. Model numbers will now transfer correctly.
  331.  
  332.  AS/400
  333.  1. Corrected by adding support for the "query conversation
  334.  state" service verb.
  335.  
  336.  OS/2
  337.  2. WCM.DLL modified.
  338.  
  339.  USING NETVIEW
  340.  DLM.NLM modified so that a server crash will no longer result
  341.  from a REQMS resulting in a DLM_GET_STATISTICS or
  342.  DLM_RESET_STATISTICS.

  344.  DATA LINK SWITCH/CUSTOM DATA LINK
  345.  Support provided for data spanning multiple data blocks,
  346.  instead of being required to remain in one data block.  This
  347.  also effects Custom data link configurations as well.
