NEW INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF SAACOPY
I. Before you copy, back up, or restore a service profile, verify that
the following conditions are true:
A. The source server and all destination servers are running NetWare
for SAA 1.3.
B. If the source server and any of the destination servers are running
NetWare 3.1x, you have the password for the SUPERVISOR user ID or the
user ID and password for a user with supervisor-equivalent privileges
for each server.
C. If the source server and any of the destination servers arerunning
NetWare 4.0x, you have the password for the CSADMIN user or the user
ID and password for a user in the same context as the NetWare for SAA
server with security equivalence to the NetWare server object for each
server. Refer to the "NetWare for SAA 1.3B Administration Guide" for
information on creating a 4.0x user.
D. The Communication Executive is loaded on the source server and all
destination servers.
II. Start the SAACOPY utility from the DOS prompt by entering the
following command:
SAACOPY
SAACOPY starts and displays the Main menu.
III. TO BACK UP SERVICE PROFILES.
1. Select "Back Up/Restore Profiles" from the SAACOPY Main menu.
2. Select "Back Up Profiles to Disk." SAACOPY displays a list of
Communication Servers currently on the network.
3. Select the NetWare for SAA Communication Server to backup.
COMMEXEC.NLM must be loaded on the server you intend to back up.
4. SAACOPY will prompt you to log in as Supervisor or Supervisor
equivalent. Once you have logged in, SAACOPY will display a list of
all the NetWare for SAA service profile records on the server
specified.
5. Select one or more service profile records to backup to disk.
Use the <F5> key to select multiple service profile records.
6. Press <Enter> to proceed with the back up.
7. SAACOPY will prompt you to enter the drive and directory path to
which the service profile records will be backed up. The drive and
path designations can be any local DOS device or a mapped network
drive. SAACOPY automatically creates a filename with a DOS file
extension ".S20" identifying a PU2.0 SAA service profile record, or
".S21" identifying a PU2.1 SAA service profile record. The filename
corresponds to the service profile record name.
The backed up files can be renamed as long as the DOS file extensions
remain the same. This is required for the Restore procedure.
NOTE: SAACOPY writes the backed up SAA service profile records to
ASCII DOS files. Do not edit or delete any lines from a file created
by this utility. Novell, Inc. makes no warranties concerning the
ability to restore a file which has been modified manually.
8. If you select more than one service profile record to back up and
wish to stop the backup once it has begun, press <Esc>. SAACOPY
will stop the backup procedure once it has completed backing up the
service profile record in progress.
IV. TO RESTORE ONE OR MORE SAA SERVICE PROFILES THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY
BACKED UP.
1. Select "Back Up/Restore Profiles" from the SAACOPY Main menu.
2. Select "Restore Profiles from Disk."
3. SAACOPY will prompt you to enter the source path of the backed up
SAA service profile records. Enter the drive and directory path of
the backed up SAA service profile records that you wish to restore.
4. SAACOPY will display a list of all the NetWare for SAA service
profile records found in the directory specified. Select one or more
service profile records to restore. Use the <F5> key to select
multiple service profile records. Press <Enter>
when you have completed your selections.
5. SAACOPY will display a list of Communication Servers currently on
the network. Select one or more 1.3.x NetWare for SAA Communication
Servers to which you want to restore the specified service profile
records. Use the <F5> key to select multiple Communication Servers.
Press <Enter> when you have completed your selections.
6. During the restoration process, SAACOPY will prompt you to log
into each server specified as Supervisor or Supervisor equivalent.
If you select more than one service profile to restore and wish to
stop the restoration once it has begun, press <Esc>. SAACOPY stops
the restoration once it has completed restoring the service profile
record in progress.
V. RESTORING ACCESS CONTROL LISTS (ACLS)
During the restore procedure, if a user name or the group name of an
ACL that you are attempting to restore does not already exist on the
target server to which you are restoring, that user name or group name
will not be added to any of the ACL lists created.
To be sure that all user names or group names are restored, add the
user names and group names to the target server using either SYSCON or
NETADMIN before you begin the restore procedure.
