  17. SAA007.EXE & SAA008.EXE, together, are the current maintenance patch for SAA
  18. 1.3B.  SAA007 and SAA008 must be used together.  Do Not Apply to COMMEXEC and
  19. NWSAA versions below 1.3.42!  Check Product Options Under "Load Install"
  20. First!  The patch is recommended for all SAA 1.3B installations and for all
  21. SAA 1.3 installations that have installed the PTF 410 series.

  123. Installation Instructions:
  124. 1. Install this patch ONLY IF you have NetWare for SAA 1.3B or have installed
  125. the PTF410 series.
  126.  
  127. 2. Put SAA007.EXE and SAA008.EXE into separate empty directories on a hard
  128. disk or network drive.Make sure these directory paths are available to the
  129. server (s) you are updating.  For standardizing you should create directories
  130. saa007 and SAA008.
  131.  
  132. 3.  Unzip SAA007.EXE.

  139. 5.  Do a CSDOWN so that COMMEXEC will not be running.
  140.  
  141. 6.  LOAD Install.

  143. 7. Select Product Options.
  144.  
  145. 8. Press <Insert>. You should select the directory path created above ie,
  146. sys:\saa007 or c:\saa007
  147.  
  148. 9. Select server to update.
  149.  
  150. 10. Press <Enter>.
  151.  
  152. 11. Wait for the update to complete.
  153.  
  154. 12. Press <Esc>.  You should see NWSAA 1.3.56.
  155.  
  156. 13. Press <Insert>.select directory path for saa008 ie, sys:\saa008 or
  157. c:\saa008.
  158.  
  159. 14. Select the server to update.
  160.  
  161. 15. Press <Enter>
  162. .
  163. 16. Wait for the update to complete.
  164.  
  165. 17. Press <Esc>.  You should see COMMEXEC 1.3.46  
  166.     
  167.     NOTE: THE COMMEXEC.NLM OR THE NWSAA.NLM SHOULD NEVER BE MANUALLY COPIED
  168. INTO THE SYSTEM.  THE INSTALL SCRIPTS SHOULD ALWAYS USED!!!  THIS WILL CAUSE
  169. THE VERSION INFORMATION  TO BE INCORRECT .
  170.  
  171. 18. Reload COMMEXEC.
  172.  
  173. 19. Reload the profile.
  174.  
  175. 20. Copy the new STRNRTR.EXE and NOVELLRT.OVL over any copies that may exist
  176. outside of SYS:\SYSTEM\NWSAA\AS400
  177.  
  178. 21. Read SAACOPY.TXT for instructions on the use of SAACOPY.
  179.  
  180. Patch History:
  181.  
  182. SAA007 supersedes both SAA001, SAA003, and SAA004.  SAA001 contained CSMPX.NLM
  183. dated 2-17-94, which randomized CSLIST.  Such randomization is not desirable
  184. at all sites.
  185.  
  186. SAA001 and SAA002 superseded PTF 443, PTF 435 and PTF 438.  These files also
  187. replace the NetWire file SAACPY.EXE that introduced the problem of restored
  188. downstream LUs being unable to establish host sessions and PTF 431 that was
  189. the first PTF for SAA 1.3B.
  190.  
  191. SAA008 supersedes SAA002.
  192.  
  193. Solution Specifics:
  194. A.  GENERAL
  195. 1. CMTCP.NLM modified to handle multiple QELs in a single packet.
  196.  
  197. 2. The unexpected disconnect symptom was corrected by the patch.
  198.  
  199. 3. The "Failure to attach with Password Encryption turned on" symptom was
  200. corrected by this patch.
  201.  
  202. 4. RUNCMD responses will now be limited to 220 characters.  If in excess of
  203. 220 characters, will be truncated.  Single line RUNCMD responses will be
  204. broken down into 220 character chunks.
  205.  
  206. 5. OS/2 DOS Box support for CSCON is now provided.
  207.  
  208. 6. CMTCP.NLM was modified for compatibility.
  209. (R3SDLC.LAN was modified to correct problem 8, 9, and 10.)
  210.  
  211. 7. In a multidrop environment, the SAA server could hang if another device
  212. kept RTS high.
  213.  
  214. 8. When CSCON was configured to keep RTS high, it was not kept high.
  215.  
  216. 9. Spurious interrupts/ missed polls.
  217.  
  218. 10. In some environments, pressing Attention during a Logoff could result in a
  219. Profile Unload.
  220.  
  221. 11. R3SDLC and SDLCS were modified so that DTR is not toggled when SAA
  222. receives a disconnect command in a leased line configuration.
  223.  
  224. 12. The new SDLCS acknowledges DISCs from NCP.
  225.  
  226. 13. SDLCS.NLM was modified so that a "DLCI Error" will no longer result when
  227. loading both a PU2.0 and a PU2.1 profile to the same board.
  228.  
  229. 14. SDLCS.NLM was modified so that the link will no longer fail to come up
  230. when a DISC immediately follows SNRM/UA.
  231.  
  232. 15. When changing the number of sessions (CNOS) from X to Y, must be at 0
  233. first before the change can be made.
  234.  
  235. 16.When running the DCA emulator using mod 5 , the session would be terminated
  236. by the user.Subsequent users would get 4B? on the OIA line when trying to get
  237. a new session. 
  238.   
  239. 17. Many LUX fixes involving the nwsaa nlm and the lux nlm. 
  240.  
  241. 18. When definite response was turned on as well as pacing, NWSAA would return
  242. a sense code of 200A.
  243.  
  244. 19. Changes to the MPA driver to support server with more than 16 MB of ram. 
  245.  
  246.     NOTE: MPA driver uses interrupt 3 and is non-shareable 
  247.     , run reference setup to make sure no other device uses 
  248.     interrupt 3 !! 
  249.  
  250.     For Netware for OS/2 users who are running MPA board ONLY!
  251.     load MPASDLC Name=board mode=ns (fixed NRZI/NRZ mode 
  252.     switching problem. 
  253.  
  254. B.  SAACOPY
  255. 1. The CONFIG.SYS for the workstation from which you run SAACOPY must contain
  256. FILES=20 (or greater).  If it does not, you will receive the following error
  257. message when you try to back up or restore SAA service files:
  258.  
  259.   MESSAGE
  260.  
  261.   Unable to Open File
  262.  
  263. 2. If you backed up Downstream PU configurations with files in SAACPY.EXE and
  264. you must restore them, please contact the Sysop on NetWire in NCONNECT Section
  265.  
  266. 3. Previous versions of SAACOPY could not copy between a 1.3 Communications
  267. Server and a 1.4 Communications Server (or vice versa).
  268.  
  269. 4. Connections were failing to clear.  Therefore, as new connections were made
  270. the maximum number would be reached.
  271.  
  272. 5. After a profile was copied onto a NetWare 4.01 server, an attempt to run
  273. CSCON from the same NetWare drive would cause the workstation to hang.
  274.  
  275. 6. Under certain circumstances, the use of SAACOPY then CSCON could result in
  276. the DOS prompt being changed to "%p".
  277.  
  278. C. WITH SNALINKS / LINKSNA
  279. Even though SNALINKS was configured for auto connect, the connection did not
  280. come back up automatically after a link was downed.
  281.  
  282. Now has compatibility with MPR 3.0 with fixes implemented in this patch. 
  283.  
  284. Compatibility was also implemented with NWSAA and the new "LINKSNA" due out in
  285. the near future. 
  286.  
  287. D. SHARED FOLDERS
  288. Support for the "query conversation state" service verb has been added. 
  289. Therefore, attempts to access Shared Folders will no longer result in a drive
  290. error.
  291.  
  292. E. Using NetView
  293. When the new DLM.NLM is used, a server crash will no longer result from a
  294. REQMS resulting in a DLM_GET_STATISTICS or DLM_RESET_STATISTICS.
