  15.  The complete product consists of the following seven files:
  16.  (WSOS21.EXE) contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE)
  17.  contains the requester files, (WSOS23.EXE) contains the Windows
  18.  libraries and RPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE) contains the LAN drivers,
  19.  (OS2UT1.EXE) contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities,
  20.  (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  21.  format, and (OS2VMB.EXE) contains the VLM Boot diskette image.

  51.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 electronic
  52.  documentation is now available in native OS/2 format.  Because
  53.  the native OS/2 formatting does not require much disk space,
  54.  the documentation is now available as a standard part of the
  55.  client kit download rather than as a separate download from
  56.  NetWire.

  69.  INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client for OS/2 version
  70.  2.11
  71.  
  72.  This client product supports all OS/2 2.x releases made before
  73.  December 19, 1994, and replaces all previous 2.x versions of
  74.  the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  75.  
  76.  NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare
  77.  Requester 1.3 for OS/2 instead of this product.

  79.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 consists of seven
  80.  self-extracting files:
  81.  
  82.  WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program
  83.  WSOS22.EXE contains the requester files
  84.  WSOS23.EXE contains the Windows libraries and RPL files
  85.  WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers
  86.  OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities
  87.  OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  88.             format
  89.  OS2VMB.EXE contains the VLM Boot diskette image
  90.  
  91.  Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can
  92.  be used to complete the installation of the NetWare Client for
  93.  OS/2 version 2.11:
  94.  
  95.  Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  96.  
  97.  Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From
  98.  Diskettes
  99.  
  100.  Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  101.  
  102.  Instructions for each method follow.
  103.

  105.  Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  106.  
  107.  NOTE:     You must have a version of the NetWare Client
  108.  software already installed on your workstation and be connected
  109.  to the network in order to use this install method.  You cannot
  110.  install to and from the same drive. Example: You cannot install
  111.  from C: to C:
  112.  
  113.  1.   To install the NetWare Client software to your hard disk,
  114.  you must have adequate disk space to allow for the client to
  115.  install. (about 4 MB)
  116.  
  117.  2.   At the network drive, create a directory called TEMP.
  118.  This directory can be deleted later.
  119.  
  120.       Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  121.  
  122.            MD TEMP
  123.  
  124.  3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE,
  125.  OS2UT1.EXE, and OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory.  The self
  126.  extracting file will automatically create the required
  127.  subdirectories.  Change to the directory where WSOS21.EXE,
  128.  WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and OS2DC1.EXE
  129.  reside.  DO NOT change to the TEMP directory.
  130.  
  131.       Example:  At the command line, type
  132.  
  133.            WSOS21 J:\TEMP\
  134.  
  135.  Do this for each self extracting file in turn.  This will
  136.  extract all the files into the TEMP subdirectory.
  137.  
  138.  4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP
  139.  directory and type INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2
  140.  Installation screen will appear. Follow the instructions that
  141.  appear on the screen to install the NetWare Requester on the
  142.  workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive
  143.  letter as the target directory.
  144.  
  145.  5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  148.  Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  149.  
  150.  1.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  151.  
  152.  2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  153.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  154.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  155.       Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  156.       Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  157.       Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  158.       Disk 6    OS2DOC_1
  159.  
  160.       Example:  At the command line, type
  161.  
  162.            Label A: WSOS2_1
  163.  
  164.  2.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes.
  165.  The correct directory structure will be created automatically
  166.  on the diskettes. Self-extract WSOS21.EXE onto WSOS2_1,
  167.  WSOS22.EXE onto WSOS2_2, etc.

  169.       Example:  At the command line, type
  170.  
  171.            WSOS21 A:
  172.  
  173.  3.   After creating the six diskettes, insert the disk labeled
  174.  WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  175.  
  176.  4.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the
  177.  INSTALL.EXE program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen
  178.  appears.
  179.  
  180.  5.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to
  181.  complete the install.

  184.  Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From
  185.  Diskettes
  186.  
  187.  1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk:
  188.  WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2, WSOS2_3, WSDRV_1, OS2UTIL_1, and OS2DOC_1.
  189.  
  190.       Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  191.  
  192.            MD WSOS2_1
  193.  
  194.  2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding
  195.  subdirectories, the correct directory structure will be created
  196.  in each subdirectory.  WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into
  197.  WSOS2_2, etc.

  199.       Example:  At the command line, type
  200.  
  201.            WSOS21 C:\WSOS2_1\
  202.  
  203.  3.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  204.  
  205.  4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  206.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  207.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  208.       Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  209.       Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  210.       Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  211.       Disk 6    OS2DOC_1

  213.  Example:  At the command line, type

  215.            Label A: WSOS2_1
  216.  
  217.  5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  218.  
  219.  6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.

  221.  7.   Type the following at the command line:
  222.  
  223.            XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  224.  
  225.  8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining five diskettes.
  226.  Ensure that the files are copied from the correct directory to
  227.  the corresponding labelled diskettes.
  228.  
  229.  9.   After creating the six diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette
  230.  in drive A.
  231.  
  232.  10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the
  233.  INSTALL.EXE program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen
  234.  appears.
  235.  
  236.  11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to
  237.  complete the install.

  240.  SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VLM BOOT
  241.  
  242.  OS2VMB.EXE contains a DOS boot image file and a Novell DOS 7
  243.  image utility (DISKCOPY.COM).
  244.  
  245.  IMPORTANT:  DISKCOPY.COM can only be run from an actual DOS
  246.  workstation, not from an OS/2 DOS session.
  247.  
  248.  Instructions for Creating the VLM Boot Diskette:
  249.  
  250.  1.  On the actual DOS workstation, create a subdirectory named
  251.  VLMBOOT.
  252.  
  253.  2.  Copy OS2VMB.EXE to the newly created VLMBOOT directory.
  254.  
  255.  3.  Extract OS2VMB.EXE by running it.
  256.  
  257.  4.  Insert a 1.44 MB formatted diskette into drive A:.
  258.  
  259.  5.  Change to the VLMBOOT subdirectory.
  260.  
  261.  6.  Create the image disk by typing DISKCOPY VLMBOOT.350 A:
  262.
