  15.  The complete product consists of the following seven files:
  16.  (WSOS21.EXE) contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE)
  17.  contains the requester files, (WSOS23.EXE) contains the Windows
  18.  libraries and RPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE) contains the LAN drivers,
  19.  (OS2UT1.EXE) contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities,
  20.  (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  21.  format, and (OS2VMB.EXE) contains the VLM Boot diskette image.

  54.  the documentation is now available as a standard part of the
  55.  client kit download rather than as a separate download from
  56.  NetWire.

  71.  INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11

  73.  This client product supports all OS/2 2.x releases made before
  74.  December 19, 1994, and replaces all previous 2.x versions of
  75.  the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  76.  
  77.  NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare
  78.  Requester 1.3 for OS/2 instead of this product.

  80.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 consists of seven
  81.  self-extracting files:
  82.  
  83.  WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program
  84.  WSOS22.EXE contains the requester files
  85.  WSOS23.EXE contains the Windows libraries and RPL files
  86.  WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers
  87.  OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities
  88.  OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  89.             format
  90.  OS2VMB.EXE contains the VLM Boot diskette image

  92.  Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can
  93.  be used to complete the installation of the NetWare Client for
  94.  OS/2 version 2.11:
  95.  
  96.  Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  97.  
  98.  Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From
  99.  Diskettes
  100.  
  101.  Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  102.  
  103.  Instructions for each method follow.

  106.  Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  107.  
  108.  NOTE:     You must have a version of the NetWare Client
  109.  software already installed on your workstation and be connected
  110.  to the network in order to use this install method.  You cannot
  111.  install to and from the same drive. Example: You cannot install
  112.  from C: to C:
  113.  
  114.  1.   To install the NetWare Client software to your hard disk,
  115.  you must have adequate disk space to allow for the client to
  116.  install. (about 4 MB)
  117.  
  118.  2.   At the network drive, create a directory called TEMP.
  119.  This directory can be deleted later.
  120.  
  121.       Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  122.  
  123.            MD TEMP
  124.  
  125.  3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE,
  126.  OS2UT1.EXE, and OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory.  The self
  127.  extracting file will automatically create the required
  128.  subdirectories.  Change to the directory where WSOS21.EXE,
  129.  WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and OS2DC1.EXE
  130.  reside.  DO NOT change to the TEMP directory.
  131.  
  132.       Example:  At the command line, type
  133.  
  134.            WSOS21 J:\TEMP\
  135.  
  136.  Do this for each self extracting file in turn.  This will
  137.  extract all the files into the TEMP subdirectory.
  138.  
  139.  4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP
  140.  directory and type INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2
  141.  Installation screen will appear. Follow the instructions that
  142.  appear on the screen to install the NetWare Requester on the
  143.  workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive
  144.  letter as the target directory.
  145.  
  146.  5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  149.  Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  150.  
  151.  1.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  152.  
  153.  2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  154.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  155.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  156.       Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  157.       Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  158.       Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  159.       Disk 6    OS2DOC_1
  160.  
  161.       Example:  At the command line, type
  162.  
  163.            Label A: WSOS2_1
  164.  
  165.  2.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes.
  166.  The correct directory structure will be created automatically
  167.  on the diskettes. Self-extract WSOS21.EXE onto WSOS2_1,
  168.  WSOS22.EXE onto WSOS2_2, etc.

  170.       Example:  At the command line, type
  171.  
  172.            WSOS21 A:
  173.  
  174.  3.   After creating the six diskettes, insert the disk labeled
  175.  WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  176.  
  177.  4.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the
  178.  INSTALL.EXE program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen
  179.  appears.
  180.  
  181.  5.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to
  182.  complete the install.

  185.  Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From
  186.  Diskettes
  187.  
  188.  1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk:
  189.  WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2, WSOS2_3, WSDRV_1, OS2UTIL_1, and OS2DOC_1.
  190.  
  191.       Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  192.  
  193.            MD WSOS2_1
  194.  
  195.  2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding
  196.  subdirectories, the correct directory structure will be created
  197.  in each subdirectory.  WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into
  198.  WSOS2_2, etc.

  200.       Example:  At the command line, type
  201.  
  202.            WSOS21 C:\WSOS2_1\
  203.  
  204.  3.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  205.  
  206.  4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  207.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  208.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  209.       Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  210.       Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  211.       Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  212.       Disk 6    OS2DOC_1

  214.  Example:  At the command line, type

  216.            Label A: WSOS2_1

  218.  5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  219.  
  220.  6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.

  222.  7.   Type the following at the command line:

  224.            XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  225.  
  226.  8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining five diskettes.
  227.  Ensure that the files are copied from the correct directory to
  228.  the corresponding labelled diskettes.

  230.  9.   After creating the six diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette
  231.  in drive A.
  232.  
  233.  10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the
  234.  INSTALL.EXE program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen
  235.  appears.
  236.  
  237.  11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to
  238.  complete the install.

  241.  SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VLM BOOT
  242.  
  243.  OS2VMB.EXE contains a DOS boot image file and a Novell DOS 7
  244.  image utility (DISKCOPY.COM).
  245.  
  246.  IMPORTANT:  DISKCOPY.COM can only be run from an actual DOS
  247.  workstation, not from an OS/2 DOS session.
  248.  
  249.  Instructions for Creating the VLM Boot Diskette:
  250.  
  251.  1.  On the actual DOS workstation, create a subdirectory named
  252.  VLMBOOT.
  253.  
  254.  2.  Copy OS2VMB.EXE to the newly created VLMBOOT directory.
  255.  
  256.  3.  Extract OS2VMB.EXE by running it.
  257.  
  258.  4.  Insert a 1.44 MB formatted diskette into drive A:.
  259.  
  260.  5.  Change to the VLMBOOT subdirectory.
  261.  
  262.  6.  Create the image disk by typing DISKCOPY VLMBOOT.350 A:
  263.
