  14.  ABSTRACT:

  16.  NMA003.EXE is the maintenance patch for NetWare Management
  17.  Agent 1.5 on NetWare 3.X servers ONLY.  If you have a 4.0x
  18.  server download NMA004.EXE.  Solves "Trap #230 error" problem
  19.  and 3.12 server abends.  Supersedes NMA001.EXE.

  30.  SYMPTOM
  31.  
  32.  On a 3.x server, you encounter any of the following after
  33.  loading the NetWare Management Agent 1.5:
  34.  
  35.  * several NetWare Trap #230 errors reported on the server
  36.    console.
  37.  
  38.  * the server abends when new 3.12 events are generated.
  39.  
  40.  * multiple SCSI cards running the Compaq Fast SCSI II driver
  41.  are not recognized.
  42.  
  43.  SOLUTION
  44.  
  45.  Install and use NMA003.EXE according to the instructions below.
  46.  
  47.  NOTE: Do not install this patch on a NetWare 4.x Server]  If
  48.  you do, "Loader can not find public symbol errors" or "Needed
  49.  support modules are not present errors", will be reported.  If
  50.  you have a NetWare 4.0x server use NMA004.EXE instead.

  60.  Installation Instructions:

  62.  1. Map a drive to SYS:\SYSTEM on the server running NMA 1.5.
  63.  
  64.  2. Rename the old NWTRAP.NLM (in case you later want to restore
  65.     it).
  66.  
  67.  3. Rename the old SIDEWIND.NLM (in case you later want to
  68.     restore it).
  69.  
  70.  4. Copy the NWTRAP.NLM in NMA003.EXE, to SYS:\SYSTEM.
  71.  
  72.  5. Copy the SIDEWIND.NLM in NMA003.EXE, to SYS:\SYSTEM.
  73.  
  74.  6. On the server, enter: UNLOAD NWTRAP.
  75.  
  76.  7.  On the server, enter: LOAD NWTRAP
  77.  or
  78.  enter: LOAD NWTRAP /o
  79.  
  80.  The /o switch prevents NWTRAP.NLM from generating the trap #230
  81.  (User Logged In).  With this switch, the User Logged In traps
  82.  will not show up in the NMS Console alarm monitor log.

  84.  (If you normally load NWTRAP.NLM from NMA.NCF, you may also
  85.  need to edit NMA.NCF to add the /o switch.)

  87.  8. On the server, enter: UNLOAD SIDEWIND.
  88.  
  89.  9. On the server, enter: LOAD SIDEWIND /N  (and with the
  90.  parameters you specified when loading SIDEWIND in NMA.NCF)
  91.  
  92.  Solution Specifics:
  93.  
  94.  Specifically, this patch to NWTRAP does the following:
  95.  
  96.  - Stops NWTRAP.NLM from printing messages to the system console
  97.  whenever it issues a trap.
  98.  - Provides the "/o" command line argument to disable the
  99.  generation of trap #230 (User logged in).
  100.  
  101.  Specifically, this patch to SIDEWIND does the following:
  102.  
  103.  - Servers running NMA 1.5 will not abend when new 3.12 events
  104.  are generated.  - Multiple SCSI cards running the Compaq Fast
  105.  SCSI II driver will now be recognized.
