  3. This file contains helpful hints found in our testing
  4. as well as updated information that did not make our
  5. printed publications.  It is divided into the following

  12. GENERAL INFORMATION

  14. The NetDoor installation creates a group icon labelled
  15. 'NetDoor' on your desktop. Here's a brief summary of
  16. what you will find in your NetDoor group:
  17.  
  18.   o README
  19.  
  20.     This is the file you are reading now.  It
  21.     was opened automatically when you started
  22.     NetDoor for the first time.
  23.  
  24.   o Open NetDoor
  25.  
  26.     "Open NetDoor" (OPENDOOR) connects you to the
  27.     NetDoor environment. It runs automatically
  28.     when you restart your system unless you
  29.     removed the OPENDOOR icon from the StartUp group.
  30.     In this case, you can start Open NetDoor
  31.     by double-clicking on its icon in the NetDoor
  32.     group.
  33.  
  34.   o NetDoor Catalog
  35.  
  36.     The "NetDoor Catalog" (CATALOG) shows all the
  37.     available applications stored on servers.
  38.     Using NetDoor you can easily use these applications
  39.     without installing them on your workstation.
  40.  
  41.     Using the "NetDoor Catalog" you can:
  42.       - Search for an application in the Catalog.
  43.       - Browse information about an application.
  44.       - Add applications from the NetDoor environment
  45.         to your workstation. When you add an application,
  46.         NetDoor creates a program icon on your desktop for
  47.         accessing the application, and configures your
  48.         workstation for using it.
  49.       - Start applications directly from the
  50.         catalog. This is possible only for those
  51.         applications that do not require special
  52.         workstation configuration.

  54.   o NetDoor Maintenance
  55.  
  56.     "NetDoor Maintenance" (MAINT) is a facility
  57.     which allows the NetDoor environment to keep
  58.     your system up to date automatically.
  59.     When something is upgraded or changed in the
  60.     NetDoor environment, your administartor uses
  61.     MAINT to apply these changes, called fixes,
  62.     to your workstation.
  63.  
  64.     MAINT starts automatically when Open NetDoor
  65.     starts. If you do not want MAINT to run,
  66.     set the Open NetDoor options accordingly.
  67.  
  68.   o Change Password
  69.  
  70.     "Change Password" allows you to change your
  71.     network password on multiple domains, or to
  72.     query the password age on any of the domains.
  73.  
  74.   o NetDoor Startup
  75.  
  76.     "NetDoor Startup" is a folder, not a program
  77.     object.  It allows you to control which
  78.     NetDoor programs are automatically started
  79.     when you connect to NetDoor.  (It works in
  80.     much the same way as the Windows StartUp group.)

  82.     If there are NetDoor applications that you
  83.     would like to have started automatically each
  84.     time you connect to NetDoor, place a shadow of
  85.     the object in this folder and NetDoor will
  86.     start the program automatically for you in the
  87.     future.

  89.   o NetDoor User's Guide for Windows
  90.  
  91.     This icon refers to the Library Reader for Windows
  92.     to access the online copy of the User's Guide.
  93.  
  94.     You may use CATALOG to install Library Reader
  95.     to view all of the online books provided with
  96.     NetDoor.

  98. DOCUMENTATION
  99. ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  100. The online versions of the NetDoor manuals can be
  101. read with Library Reader for Windows, which is
  102. shipped with NetDoor.
  103. The hardcopy versions are included in the NetDoor
  104. package. Additional hardcopy versions are available
