  20. LWP207.EXE is recommended for all LAN WorkPlace 4.1 & 4.2 sites and all LAN
  21. WorkGroup 4.1 & 4.2 sites.  It includes the latest patches for the
  22. applications in LWP/LWG 4.1 and 4.2 and "upgrades" v4.1 to v4.2 and beyond.

  35. SYMPTOM
  36.  
  37. >> HOST PRESENTER
  38. - After Host Presenter is started, printer changes made through Control Panel
  39. or Print Manager, are not picked up by Host Presenter.
  40.  
  41. - When printing to a PostScript printer, Landscape mode text in Bypass
  42. Printing mode is printed in very small fonts.
  43.  
  44. - Opening 5 active sessions hangs the workstation.
  45.  
  46. - Continuous printing, in landscape mode, on HP Laserjet printers, prints
  47. error message "Unable to obtain requested font"
  48.  
  49. - With UNIX editor VI, screen flashes cause a loss of system resources.
  50.  
  51. - Printing to "Generic/Text Only on FILE" inserts 14 \n characters after a
  52. line.
  53.  
  54. - Not interpreting sequence  Esc?25hESC22;0*x  correctly.  Therefore, the
  55. first line of the display ends up on the twenty-third line instead.
  56.  
  57. - A text line longer than 132 characters, using Continuous Print Option,
  58. causes a GP fault.
  59.  
  60. - Selecting Landscape Option under File/Printer Setup does not work.
  61.  
  62. - MS Windows exits to DOS when the OK button for printing the screen or buffer
  63. is double clicked.

  66. - No support for the DOS wildcard character (*) in the filename specification.

  68. >> RAPID FILER
  69. - Unable to parse directories on certain UNIX hosts.

  71. - If the user does not have write permission when overwriting a host file, the
  72. file is not copied and the file on host is deleted.

  74. >> SERVING FTP
  75. - If Serving FTP is invoked AND iconized, no users can FTP to the LWP
  76. workstation, whether the user is authorized or not.
  77.  
  78. >> TNVT220
  79. - Selecting the VT220 8-Bit emulation mode caused TNVT220 to go in binary
  80. mode.  The user was unable to enter his user name and password.  Now selecting
  81. the VT220 8-bit mode will leave the emulation in ASCII mode.
  82.  
  83. - Opening a TNVT220 session, then using <Alt+t) to get to the TNVT220 command
  84. mode, then entering an ASCII command freezes the TNVT220 session.
  85.  
  86. - TNVT220 not interpreting sequence  Esc?25hESC22;0*x  correctly. Therefore,
  87. the first line of the display ends up on the twenty-third line instead.
  88.  
  89. - Margin Bell was causing the Chips and Technology 4021 chipset to lock
  90. because, TNVT220 was writing an interrupt to the sound port.  It should write
  91. a byte.
  92.  
  93. - In  ANSI mode, column 0 did not get updated.  Even though the symptoms were
  94. displayed by TNVT220, the actual problem was being caused by an error in
  95. TELAPI.
  96.  
  97. >> TELAPI
  98. - Did not work with the "Relay Gold".
  99.  
  100. - 1st character of each output line eaten.
  101.  
  102. >> RSH/REXEC/RPR
  103. - Error message "Read error on stdio socket: Connection reset by peer" is
  104. printed at completion of RSH commands.
  105.  
  106. - Error message "Read error on stdio socket: Bad file number" is printed at
  107. completion of RSH commands.
  108.  
  109. - RPR didn't support the DOS wildcard character (*) in the filename
  110. specification.
  111.  
  112. >> FTP
  113. Patched version of FTP resolves the issue of getting 0 byte length files
  114. placed in the directory when the FTP GET or PUT fails for any reason.
  115.

  117. SOLUTION
  118.  
  119. Apply LWP207.EXE.
  120.  
  121. IMPORTANT NOTES:
  122. 1. LWP208.EXE is the companion to LWP207.EXE.  We recommend that you apply it
  123. also. 
  124.  
  125. 2. Sites with the French, Spanish, German, or Portuguese versions of LAN
  126. WorkPlace, LAN WorkGroup have two options:
  127. - A. To receive "more complete" error messages, apply the following files from
  128. LWP207.EXE:   
  129. -- LWPCON.MSG
  130. -- RSH.MSG
  131. -- TELAPI.MSG
  132. -- XPC.MSG
  133. -- FTP.MSG
  134. However, the messages will exclusively be in English.
  135.  
  136. - B. Do not copy in those 5 new .MSG files, and continue to receive the "old
  137. less complete" error messages in French, Spanish, German, or Portuguese
  138.  
  139. 3. LWP207.EXE does not include the NFS Client for LAN WorkPlace software.

  176. Installation Instructions:
  177.  
  178. Copy all the files in LWP207.EXE to the LAN WorkPlace / LAN WorkGroup BIN
  179. directory.  The default LAN WorkPlace directory is C:\NET\BIN, and the default
  180. LAN WorkGroup directory is {fileserver/volume}:NET\BIN.
  181.  
  182. Solution Specifics:
  183. In addition to correcting the listed symptoms, LWP207.EXE changes XPC in the
  184. following ways:
  185.  
  186. 1. Uses the software timer interrupt (Interrupt 1C) instead of the hardware
  187. timer interrupt (Interrupt 8).  (for compatibility reasons)
  188.  
  189. 2. The rate at which the client screen is updated by XPC has increased. 
  190. (faster screen update)
  191.  
  192. Patch History:
  193. LWP207.EXE supersedes LWP188.EXE.
