This section explains how to install GWY195 patch on NFS Gateway 1.2 in a NetWare 3.11 or 3.12 environment.
NOTE: This patch is for NetWare 3.x Operating System only. A version of this patch for the 4.x Operating System is planned.
NOTE: This patch is for version 1.2 of NFS Gateway. If you have version 1.1, you must upgrade to 1.2 using either the paid update (see Novell reseller) or install update GWY194.EXE from NetWire.
NOTE: See FEATURES.TXT to learn how to enable the new features, and GWY195.TID to learn about bug fixes.
NOTE: There is no need to delete any files, or uninstall the NFS Gateway. Only two NFSGW.NLM and GWADMIN.NLM are replaced by this patch.
From your NetWare client workstation, perform the following steps:
1. Log into the NetWare server.
2. Copy the SYS:SYSTEM/NFSGW.NLM and SYS:SYSTEM/GWADMIN.NLM files as a precautionary backup.
For example:
CD SYS:
CD SYSTEM
COPY NFSGW.NLM NFSGW.OLD
COPY GWADMIN.NLM GWADMIN.OLD.
3. Create a new directory named GWY195 on any valid NetWare volume. This will be the temporary area where by PINSTALL will find its files.
For example:
MD GWY195
4. Change to the (GWY195) directory.
For example:
CD GWY195
4. Copy the self-extracting file GWY195.EXE into the directory GWY195
and then type GWY195 to extract files and subdirectories.
5. Inform users who currently have network drives mapped to a gateway volume that they will be disconnected and must login again. When NFSGW.NLM unloads, it must clear all active connections which have accessed Gateway volumes.
From the server running NFS Gateway 1.2:
6. Type UNISTOP to unload the NFSGW modules from memory, or UNLOAD NFSGW.
7. At the system console, load the Installation program:
LOAD INSTALL
8. Select PRODUCT OPTIONS.
The Currently Installed Products Menu appears and lists the product
NFSGW 1.2 NFSGW.
9. Press <Insert> and then <F3> to install the update files. The SPECIFY DIRECTORY PATH dialog box appears.
10. Type in the path to the DISK1 directory where the GWY195 file was extracted.
SYS:\GWY195\DISK1
After the Installation program installs the files, the Currently Installed Products menu lists the following:
NFSGW 1.1 NetWare NFS Gateway
GWY195 1.2A PTF-F195 NFS Gateway Patch
11.. Exit the INSTALL program or press <ALT>+<ESC>, and return to the system console prompt.
12. This NFSGW update contains optional parameters for network customization. If you want to change these parameters, edit the NWPARAMS file as described in FEATURES.TXT now.
13. Type UNISTART <Enter> to start the modules again. MODULES command should show that NFSGW.NLM and GWADMIN.NLM are now version 2.22a.
14. Inform users that they may reconnect to the NetWare server.
