  5. To install Cool Edit, copy (or unzip) all the files into their own program
  6. directory (such as C:\COOL).  From File Manager, select COOL.EXE and drag it
  7. into your favorite Program Manager group.  Alternatively, you can go File->New
  8. from Program Manager, select Browse, and then find COOL.EXE and choose it.  If
  9. you are using Windows 95 (tm), go to the Cool Edit directory and drag COOL.EXE
  10. to your desktop or to the folder of your choice.

  12. Following are the new features, enhancements, and bug fixes since version 1.51:
  13. * Higher quality (and faster) sample rate conversion, Echo Chamber, and Filter
  14. * Amiga IFF file format support
  15. * CD Player titles compatible with Windows 95 CD Player titles
  16. * Faster 3D Echo Chamber
  17. * New rulers added to main display and Frequency Analysis window
  18. * Spectral View displays higher dynamic range for more detail
  19. * Bugs fixed concerning scripts

  25. * New Zero-Crossing function (F4) finds the zero crossings

  28. * Added A-Law, mu-Law, byte-reversed, and unsigned formats to PCM raw data

  30. * Added optional header to PCM raw data format
  31. * Added a 5-bit IMA ADPCM compression for higher quality ADPCM at 25% more

  33. * Record level meters with logarithmic display and right-mouse config menu
  34. * Record level meters made larger, and display on playback and record as well
  35. * User defined number of Undo levels
  36. * Functions work on entire waveform when no selection is made

  39. * Undo Music wasn't working properly
  40. * Invalid undo directory is handled properly now
  41. * Paste Special gave "not enough memory for undo" when not necessary
  42. * Toolbar help popups do not disable keyboard anymore
  43. * Moved location of 'fact' chunk in WAV files for more compatibility

  51. To Register, pull down Cool Edit's Help menu and select "Registration Form".
  52. You can select the form with the mouse and copy it to a text editor or word
  53. processor.  We have 3 registration levels that you can choose from:

  55. $50  - Basic Registration.  You will receive a registration number that will
  56.        unlock your copy so you can use any function at any time.
  57. $100 - Preferred Registration.  You will receive a registration number, and
  58.        automatically receive ShareWare updates as they are released.  You are
  59.        also placed on my 'preferred' list which will entitle you to other
  60.        goodies in the future.
  61. $25  - Lite Version.  You will receive a registration number that will turn
  62.        your copy into a registered wave editor with only the bare wave editing
  63.        essentials.  If you have no need for all the fancy effects offered by
  64.        Cool Edit, then register at this level.
