Transcription: Theseus's warm heart was legendary. He gave sanctuary to Heracles and Oedipus when both were outcasts, reviled for the crimes they had committed. His strongest friendship was with a man who introduced himself to Theseus by doing him injury. Pyrithous, a roguish adventurer, decided that he had to see for himself how heroic Theseus was. He stole some of Theseus's cattle. When Theseus caught up with him, Pyrithous looked over and was so impressed that he impetuously offered him anything he wanted to make up for the theft.
