Transcription: In Crete Daedalus's welcome was ensured by the marvels he wrought. He entertained Minos and his family with all manner of puppets and toys. But then Daedalus aided Minos's wife, Pacifae, in some shameful deed. Minos enraged confined Daedalus to a tower and bid him design the labyrinth in which the fruit of that shame would be concealed. Locked in his tower prison with his son Icarus, Daedalus occupied his time as he always had conceiving, designing and building. Things useful and things wonderful continued to flow from his workshop.
