- The G0BSX SMTP <-> Mailbox Interface: User Documentation.
- ========================================================
-
- Before you can send mail to GB7PLY via SMTP, you must enter the following
- line into your AUTOEXEC.NET file:
- smtp gateway g0bsx
- This will set g0bsx.ampr as the host to which you will send all "foreign" mail.
- Since the g0bsx system provides the gateway to GB7PLY, your mail will get
- there!
-
- 1. Sending private messages TO the mailbox using SMTP.
- -----------------------------------------------------
-
- Use messy mailer to send a message in the usual way but address is as follows:
-
- m <dest>%<bbs>@<host>
-
- where: <dest> is the destination callsign or contents for the "To" field,
- <bbs> is the destination Mailbox callsign or "At" Field,
- <host> is the host id that interfaces with your local mailbox.
-
- For example, assuming g0bsx is the TCP/IP host i.d. for the GB7PLY mailbox,
- the following are valid addressing methods:
-
- m g4mtp%gb7nts@g0bsx (will send a message To G4MTP @ GB7NTS)
- m g4snl@g0bsx (will send a mesage To G4SNL @ GB7PLY)
- m zs6zs%zs6sat@g0bsx (will send a message To ZS6ZS @ ZS6SAT)
-
-
- 2. Sending Public Bulletins TO the mailbox using SMTP.
- -----------------------------------------------------
-
- Exactly the same format applies as for private messages, but with the following
- rules:
-
- * The contents of the TO field must NOT be a valid callsign.
- * The contents of the AT field mus be of a type that is forwarded by the
- mailbox.
-
- A valid Callsign is any one of the folowing:
- <letter> <letter> <number> <letter> ... - e.g. GB7PLY, HB9CV, WA6TYR, etc.
- <letter> <number> <letter> .... - e.g. G0BSX, W5WRT, G3ZYY, etc.
- <letter> <number> <number> <letter> ... - e.g. Z22RTE (Zimbabwe), etc.
- <numner> <letter> <number> <letter> ... - e.g. 4X4ARE, 9T6DDF, etc.
-
- At fields forwarded from This mailbox (GB7PLY) are:
- SWAX25 - South West region only
- GB - All of the U.K. and Eire
- EU - All of Europe
-
- For example:
-
- m all%gb@g0bsx - sends a bulletin to ALL @ GB
- m raynet%gb@g0bsx - sends a buletin to RAYNET @ GB
- m wanted%eu@g0bsx - sends a bulletin to WANTED @ EU
-
-
- 3. Sending of mail by the Mailbox To SMTP.
- -----------------------------------------
-
- This is done automatically by the mailbox and is under the control of the
- Mailbox sysop. If you want Private mail sent to you with SMTP, let your SYSOP
- know so that he can alter his forward and batch files accordingly.
-
- 4. Sending of Bulletins by the mailbox TO SMTP.
- ----------------------------------------------
-
- This is also done automatically by the Mailbox and is under the control of
- the mailbox SYSOP. It is possible to send selective bulletins based on the
- contents of the TO, FROM or AT fields. If you want to receive specific
- bulletins from the mailbox, let your sysop know.
- For example, it is possible to receive ONLY bulletins TO TCPIP or THENET or
- whatever.
- On GB7PLY, I have arranged for bulletins to be forwarded to SMTP after midnight
- only and therefore these become available to TCP/IP stations in the early
- hours. It would be useful if all bulletin recipients could arrange downloading
- of their bulletins every day at off peak hours!
-
- Good Luck and enjoy!
