- VERSON HISTORY
-
- Beta-test Version 2.00 of the 440 Spoiler (44SPL20B.EXE), released 1
- June, 1990, is the second release of the 440 Spoiler. It is preceded only by
- Version 1.01, released 28 January 1990.
-
- The new release incorporates maintenance revisions performed over the
- intervening five months as well as many new features.
-
- Major new features are as follows.
-
- 1. An alternate high-density display on a keyboard toggle that shows all
- transceiver operating parameters, including all 110 memories (90 for
- unsplit operation plus 20 for split operation) on a single screen.
-
- 2. Numeric-keypad control of main tuning and increment tuning, including
- tuning of all 100 memories as well as both VFOs. Memories and VFO's
- altered during tuning may (optionally) be left in their altered state or
- restored to their original state. From keypad tuning, there are in
- effect 102 VFOs that you have convenient and complete control of.
-
- 3. Keypad control of transmitting, a feature which may be disabled on
- installation.
-
- 4. Advanced scanning capabilities that provide memory-group scanning,
- frequency-range scanning, and any combination of both that you care to
- program. You specify the delays for group scanning individually within
- up to sixgroups, and you specify the range-scanning speed for up to six
- ranges.
-
- 5. Enhanced color graphic display layout that uses highlighting to
- dynamically illuminate currently selected operating parameters. Reverse-
- video for LCD displays.
-
- 6. A new installation program that permits easy configuration of the program
- for hardware and operating operating features.
-
- 7. A sharp and clear-cut distinction between features available shareware
- examination copies and features available in registered copies.
- Examination copies do not contain the following features.
-
- A. Transmit keying from the keyboard, even if enabled during
- installation.
-
- B. Use of keypad accelerator and decelerator keys during tuning.
-
- C. Between-session saving of edited scan information.
-
- D. Opening of memory files not specified during installation.
-
- We hope you enjoy version 2 of the 440 Spoiler. Even the examination
- copy with its incomplete features is a considerably greater operating
- convenience (or necessity) than that offered by nowadays by commercial
- packages. Registered copies, of course, make the commercial competition work
- a little harder at the same time that they help improve the Spoiler moreso
- beyond any commercial competetive packages.
-
- The package you are receiving with this file is a beta-test (gobbledegook
- for user-test) version of the shareware examination copy. It is not bug-free,
- but it will definitely not harm your transceiver or anything connected with
- your computer. The purpose of this beta-test release is simply to provide a
- "test drive" of the software to as many astute users who want to try it as
- possible. If you find bugs, please report them by the end of June 1990.
