  7. Club X in Wuustwezel is closed. This is the result of a recent drug bust which
  8. took place on a sunday morning. The cops found an amount of XTC pills, speed &
  9. 2 guns. It then was decided that the club would have to be closed for four
  10. months. I still believe that closing clubs really does NOTHING about some of 
  11. the problems, especially drugs. Do they close public parks because they are
  12. visited by heroin junks, which is a lot worse than an XTC tablet or a line of
  13. speed? No. Then why close house clubs? I find this only right if it is proven
  14. that the owner of the club is involved with the drug traffic in the club. But
  15. let's stick with the subject...
  16. Club X was famous because of the hard style of house they played and attracted
  17. a certain public. So the owners of the club decided to omit the closing of the
  18. club and went to Brasschaat, to the Qu (see Belgian Clubs issue 4). As I menti-
  19. oned in BC4 the Qu was dead and the owners of Club X have taken over the Qu and
  20. now the Qu has become Club X! They took the board that said 'Club X' from Wuus-
  21. twezel and placed it at the club in Brasschaat. So, to put in in other words,
  22. the club has been moved from Wuustwezel to Brasschaat (Bredabaan) [:) Although
  23. I find it a very original thing to do, I believe that this may have a certain
  24. influence on other clubs that are situated in the Antwerp region. There are
  25. already complaints about Club X moving to Brasschaat (from people who live in
  26. the neigbourhood of the club - I dunno what they are, so I cannot judge whether
  27. they are serious or not). I hope that this will not have repercussions on other
  28. clubs, but I am afraid it will. First of all, house clubs already have a bad
  29. reputation when it comes to drugs. The media make it sound as if almost all of
  30. the people who visit house clubs are lowlifes and junks. This is not true, but
  31. hey, try to explain it to a 40 year old and you hit a brick wall! This incident
  32. is another example of how some dumb motherfuckers can ruin other people's fun.
  33. I am not judging people who TAKE drugs, but the ones who SELL 'em IN CLUBS. If
  34. people bought their stuff somewhere else and took everything at home or some-
  35. where else BEFORE visiting the club, there wouldn't be such a big mess. They
  36. can still flash all night without the club being in such a big risk. Ofcoz, the
  37. safest thing, for the club AND yourself, is staying clean. 
  38. Now, some time ago it almost was a fashion of busting some house temple every
  39. weekend and closing it. I hope that this will not repeat itself. There are so-
  40. me VERY good clubs out there that I wouldn't want to see being closed. In the
  41. Antwerp region they are already talkin' of handling the club 'problem' in a 
  42. bigger way... Not that there is any in my opinion, except for maybe some ass-
  43. holes who get a kick of shitting in people's mailboxes etc [:( I firmly belie-
  44. ve that most of the clubs I visit do a pretty good job in trying to avoid il-
  45. legal stuff being taken inside, but no system is 100% . And I know that there
  46. indeed are SOME places in which drugs are tolerated, but these are rather rare.
  47. So to end this little bit of info, I wanna say that we'll visit the 'new' Club
  48. X next week (if it is still open by then) and bring you a more in-depth report
  49. on it.
