  17. Greetings.  I am having a bit of trouble downloading the source for version
  18. 2 of the telnet stuff.  I connected to ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu using anonymous ftp
  19. at around 8:30pm pdt on 11-10.  I got to the PC directory and located the 
  20. compressed source.  Now, I was able to get "most" of pcniu2.tar.Z before the
  21. server closed the connection because of a time-out.
  22.  
  23. The machine I was working from is fast and I had adequate storage.  I wonder
  24. if the download was slow because of the symbolic links at your end (are you 
  25. using a remote mount - that can slow things up and introduce other problems...)
  26. or something else.  I've never had problems accessing the stuff from the old
  27. uxc.cso.uiuc.edu machine.

  29. We're pretty eager to get a hold of the source and other stuff.  We're very
  30. impressed with what we have seen so far.  Please let me know if there is 
  31. anything I can do at this end to facilitate matters.

  41. Are the telnet sources available yet? I purchased the version 2.0 disk
  42. from you but found no sources on it. I have not been able to connect
  43. to your computer for anonymous ftp but this is probably ARPANets
  44. fault.

  46. Bug report: We have not been able to make "ftp enabled: no" in the
  47. configuration file work. ftp is always enabled.

  60. One of our staff members here accidently hit command-K instead of
  61. control-K a couple of times and ended up killing his sessions.  He
  62. brings up the issue - should a "Close Session" be considered a
  63. "dangerous" command that should force a dialog box to come up.
  64.  
  65. I have mixed feelings about this, but submit it as a possible
  66. modifications to be made.

  68. I agree with the basic comment about the flashing screen too.  It gets
  69. really annoying when you're on a system that "beeps" at the end of
  70. page like TOPS-20.  I think that making the screen flash only if it is
  71. a background screen is a good idea.  An alternative might be to bring
  72. it to front for a second...

  84. The ftp log window tells what transactions are occurring, but does not
  85. say who has a connection to the Mac.  If this information is available
  86. (even if it is only a socket number or remote host id) it would be
  87. useful in identifying unwanted intruders.  Also it would be nice if the
  88. contents of the ftp log would scroll and if the user had control over
  89. how much information was saved.

  99. older MICOM/Interlan NI5010 board, or the (LANCE-based ?) VAXmate, I'd love
  100. to hear from you ...

  118. Tabs in NCSA Telnet are non-distructive.  I am not positive, but I believe
  119. they are expected to be on VT100s...
