  40. Only the capitalized letters are required for the command.
  41. The commands take optional keywords and values.
  42.    The syntax is: COMMAND  KEY1=VAL1  KEY2 VAL2  . . .
  43. Type 'HELP command' for help on a particular command.
  44. .FILE
  45. FILE takes a required string value, i.e. the file name
  46. FILE without filename enters file prompt mode
  47. FILE with a filename mask enters file prompt mode with only the
  48.      matching filenames
  49. FILE also takes the following keyword:
  50.  
  51. NOMemory     forces FILE to read the image from disk, even if the
  52.              image is already in XMS memory
  53. .DISPLAY
  54. DISPlay takes the following keywords:
  55.  
  56. SUBsample    a positive integral subsampling factor
  57. ZOOm         a positive integral zoom factor
  58. CENter       to display area around cursor
  59. AUToset      to automatically set dnlow and dnhigh to some
  60.              percent n (def. 5 percent), based on histogram
  61. NL NS        number of lines and samples to display in image
  62. SL SS        starting line and sample in image
  63. LEFT RIGHT   move starting sample left or right from previous
  64. UP DOWN      move starting line up or down from previous
  65. DSL DSS      starting line and sample on display
  66. FLIp         flips the image top-to-bottom
  67. SOUrce       displays the source file, if given in the label for
  68.              Mars MDIM and Magellan F-MIDR only
  69. NOPrompt     command line prompt is not displayed
  70. .ERASE
  71. ERAse takes no parameters
  72. .SET
  73. SET takes the following keywords :
  74.  
  75. DNLOw  DNHIgh   the DN range to compress into display pixel
  76.                 Use no parameters to see the current values
  77. BROwse fname    sets the default filename for use with BROWSE
  78. SELect fname    sets default filename for use with BROWSE SELECT
  79. PALette dir     sets default palette directory name for use with
  80.                 PAL LOAD command
  81. NS = n          sets the number of samples/line for display
  82. SWAP            swaps bytes when reading the image (>8 bits)
  83. UNSWAP          resets SWAP, so bytes aren't swapped
  84. REFRESH ON      turns on the refresh buffer
  85. REFRESH OFF     turns off the refresh buffer
  86. DELay ON        for batch files - pauses before executing a line
  87. DELay OFF       for batch files - no pause before executing a line
  88. PROmpt ON       for batch files - enables display of each command
  89. PROmpt OFF      for batch files - disables display of each command
  90.  
  91. DISplay vname   changes the display type to the one specified.

  110.  Use the DOS SET command before starting IMDISP to set the
  111.  default display type. EG: SET IMDISP=VGA will start up in VGA
  112.  mode.
  113. .HISTOGRAM
  114. HISTogram takes the following keywords :
  115.  
  116. SUBsample    a integral subsample factor for speed
  117. NL NS        number of lines and samples from image
  118. SL SS        starting line and sample in image
  119. CENter       do histogram on displayed portion of image
  120. VOY          Use histogram from standard PDS Voyager image
  121. VIK          Use histogram from standard PDS Viking image
  122. COL          draw histogram using current color settings
  123. .PALETTE
  124. PALette takes the following keywords :
  125.  
  126. EDIt = n    to interactively adjust n color palette using the
  127.             arrow keys on numeric keypad:
  128.              left(4) and right(6) move to different palette
  129.              color, ^left and ^right move to colors in larger
  130.              steps, HOME and END move to the beginning/end
  131.              colors, up(2), down(8) to increment/decrement all
  132.              colors, letters R, r, G, g, B, b to incr/decr the
  133.              color, invert the palette with x or X, scroll with S
  134.              or s, and . or carriage return to end.
  135. PSeudo color    PS = 0  for default palette
  136.                 PS = 1  for gray scale palette
  137.                 PS = 2  IBM EGA palette
  138.                 PS = 3  Redorange  PS = 4 Prism
  139.                 PS = 5  Topo       PS = 6 Contour
  140.                 PS = 7  BGRY       PS = 8 Glasses1
  141.                 PS = 9  Glasses2   PS =10 Perspective
  142. SAVe = file     saves palette in text file
  143. LOAd = file     loads palette from file, if no file is blank,
  144.                 then prompt mode is entered
  145. DISplay         displays the current palette on the screen
  146. ERAse           erases the current palette from the screen
  147. CYCle number    Cycle color palette, S or s saves the palette
  148.                 CYC = 0 Blink         CYC = 1 Blink 4 times
  149.                 CYC = 2 Rotate left   CYC = 3 Rotate right
  150.                 CYC = 4 Rotate+random CYC = 5 Random
  151.                 CYC = 6 Double rotate CYC = 7 Random swap
  152.                 FAST    delay .1 seconds between cycles
  153.                         instead of the default .3 seconds
  154.                 TIME n  to cycle for n seconds
  155. .STRETCH
  156. STREtch takes the following keywords :
  157.  
  158. LOw, HIgh     the low and high DN values of the stretch
  159.      e.g.  STRET HI=128     for a stretch between 0 and 128
  160. .CURSOR
  161. CURSor takes the following keywords:
  162.  
  163. DSL, DSS      place the cursor at the specified display line and
  164.               sample location
  165.  
  166. Use the mouse or numeric keypad to move the cursor around, '-'
  167.  and '+' to change the cursor step size, and '.' or carriage
  168.  return to end.
  169. .PROFILE
  170. PROFile takes no parameters
  171. Use the mouse or numeric keypad to move the cursor around, '-'
  172.  and '+' to change the cursor step size, '.' or carriage return
  173.  to select the first and second points
  174. .REFRESH
  175. REFResh takes no parameters
  176. Redisplays the images from the refresh buffer and erases any
  177. graphics currently on the screen.
  178. .BATCH
  179. BATch takes the following keywords :
  180.  
  181. filename     filename of batch command file
  182. .SAVE
  183. SAVe takes the following keywords :
  184.  
  185. filename     filename of image to save. If the filename has the
  186.              extension GIF, the file will be saved in GIF format.
  187.              Be patient - GIF takes time.
  188. REFRESH      saves the screen to the refresh buffer
  189. NL NS        number of lines and samples to save
  190. SL SS        starting line and sample to save
  191. BP           number of bits per pixel in output image
  192. .DOS
  193. The following MSDOS commands are supported:
  194.  
  195. drive letter:  Change default drive to specified letter
  196. CD    path     MSDOS change directory command
  197. DIR   mask     MSDOS directory command
  198. TYPe  filename MSDOS type command
  199. SYStem or >    Spawns an MSDOS process
  200. SYStem name    executes program name
  201. .MENU
  202. MENu takes the following keywords :
  203.  
  204. filename     filename of menu list file
  205. .LABEL
  206. LABel prints the label for the current PDS or FITS
  207. format image.
  208. .TEXT
  209. TEXt takes the following format :
  210.  
  211. LINe         line number to position text at
  212. SAMple       sample number to position text at
  213. TEXT         'text to type out on screen' <cr>
  214. .OVERLAY
  215. OVErlay takes the following keywords :
  216.  
  217. MAXLAT       the upper left latitude of the current image
  218. MAXLON       the upper left longitude of the current image
  219. LEGend       draw a legend with the current color assignments
  220. DN           the dn value to use for drawing grid lines
  221. .BROWSE
  222. BROwse takes the following keywords :
  223.  
  224. mask         a wildcard (ie. *.IMG) to select files to browse
  225. SIZE         the size to use for displaying multiple images
  226. SUB          a subsampling factor to use to display images ie.
  227.              'SUB 2' scales the image to half size
  228. AUToset      to automatically set dnlow and dnhigh to some
  229.              percent n (def. 5 percent), based on histogram
  230. NOLabel      do not put the filename label on displayed images
  231. DNLow DNHigh sets the DN range for all images (see SET)
  232. PAUse n      pauses display for n seconds when the screen gets full
  233. ALL          searches all subdirectories in addition to the
  234.              current directory
  235. SELect       interactively selects files as they are being
  236.              displayed and writes the filenames out to a select
  237.              file
  238. FILe fname   select files to browse from a file instead of using
  239.              a mask
  240. .PLOT
  241. PLOt takes the following keywords :
  242.  
  243. LIN n      plot line n of the image (2-D file only)
  244. SYMbol x   draw the plot using character x instead of a line
  245. ZOOm       prompt user to zoom the plot
  246. OVErlay    overplot - do not erase the current plot
  247. CENter     plot the image line containing the cursor
  248. MAX n      set the maximum value in the plot
  249. MIN n      set the minimum value in the plot
  250. COLor n    use DN value n to plot the data
  251. SPEctral   analyze the plot of a spectrum
  252. .SERIAL
  253. SERial takes the following keywords :
  254.  
  255. INIt               initialize the serial port
  256. COM  n             set COMn as the serial port to use
  257. BAUd n             set the baud rate to n
  258. COMmand 'string'   write 'string' out the serial port
  259. .PRINT
  260. PRInt takes the following keyword :
  261.  
  262. TEK4693      use the Tektronix 4693DX driver
  263. .NEGATIVE
  264. NEGative takes no parameters
  265. .BRIGHTEN
  266. BRIghten n  adds n to every pixel in the image
  267.             The default is 10% of the total range, i.e., 2 for a
  268.             16 color display, 26 for a 256 color
  269. .DARKEN
  270. DARken n    subtracts n from every pixel in the image
  271.             The default is 10% of the total range, i.e., 2 for a
  272.             16 color display, 26 for a 256 color
  273. .ENHANCE
  274. ENHance takes the following keywords:
  275.  
  276. BAAlke         applies a custom filter developed by Ron Baalke
  277. CONvolution n  applies one of 2 weighted 3x3 filter to the image
  278. EDGe n         applies one of 4 3x3 edge enhancement filters
  279. LOG n          applies a logarithmic filter to the image
  280. MEAn n         applies one of 3 mean filters to the image
  281. MEDian         applies a 3x3 median filter to the image
  282. POWer n        applies an exponential filter to the image
  283. STAir n        applies a stairstep smoothing to the image
  284. SMEar          applies a smearing filter to the image
  285. UNSharp        applies an unsharp mask filter to the image
  286. SCReen         applies the filter only to the image on the
  287.                screen, instead of the entire image
  288. .SLANT
  289. SLAnt takes the following keywords:
  290.  
  291. LEFt         displays the image slanted to the left
  292. RIGht        displays the image slanted to the right (default)
  293. SCReen       slants the image currently on the screen
  294. .LOG
  295. LOG takes the following keywords:
  296.  
  297. ON           saves entered commands to the file IMDISP.LOG
  298. FILe name    saves entered commands to the file named
  299. OFF          closes the log file (same as CLOse)
  300. CLOse        closes the log file (same as OFF)
  301. .PERSPECTIVE
  302. PERspective takes the following keywords:
  303.  
  304. SL n         starting line of the image
  305. SCR          reads image from the screen buffer
  306. .COPY
  307. COPy uses buffers named A through Z.  COPy has these forms:
  308.  
  309. COPy buffer [FILE]  copies last displayed image to the buffer
  310.                     specified (may be a disk file
  311.  
  312. COPy source TO buffer [FILE]  where source can be SCREEN or
  313.                               another buffer
  314. .MERGE
  315. MERge combines buffers or images.  MERge has these forms:
  316.  
  317. MERGE buffer  Merge last displayed image with the buffer named
  318.               and display the result
  319.  
  320. MERge source1 [scale1] WITH source2 [scale2] [TO buffer] [FILE]
  321.         to perform image arithmetic
  322. .MASK
  323. MASk substitutes a value for all pixels above or below a
  324.      specified value.  MASk takes the following keywords:
  325.  
  326. LO n     sets all pixels with a DN less than n to 0
  327. HI n     sets all pixels with a DN greater than n to 255
  328. WITh n   sets the pixels to value n instead of the default
  329. .WINDOW
  330. WINdow  sets the limits of a subimage by marking out a box on the
  331.         screen. WINdow takes the following keywords:
  332.  
  333. CANcel  sets the default back to the entire screen
  334. L1      sets the first line of the window
  335. L2      sets the last line of the window
  336. S1      sets the first sample of the window
  337. S2      sets the last sample of the window
  338. .ROTATE
  339. ROTate  n  rotates the image or subimage through the specified
  340.            angle. ROTate takes the following keywords:
  341.  
  342. SCReen     rotates the screen, rather than the entire image
  343. CLIp       trims off pieces of the image off the screen
  344. NOFill     don't blank out the empty parts of the result
  345. .OPTIONS
  346.    Within this command summary listing, brackets ([]) indicate
  347. optional parameters or keywords.  Filename is the name of a file
  348. in the current directory or a fully qualified filename which can
  349. include drive letter and pathname.  Directory name is an MS-DOS
  350. directory path specification, a valid directory mask a
  351. specification containing wild card characters (*, ?) per MS-DOS
  352. rules for wildcard use in the DIRECTORY command.  The symbol "n"
  353. is used to indicate an integer value.
