if you use it.
ColorIt! lets' you choose how a major part of your gs desktop looks, your
windows.
ColorIt! let's you decide what your title bars, window frames, dialog
box frames, and other window features look like.
Using ColorIt! is easy. Install ColorIt! and the accompaning file
ColorIt.data in your */System/Desk.Accs folder, and re-boot your
gs.
NOTE: ColorIt! requires gs system 5.0 or later to work!
ColorIt! will now be installed in the Apple menu.
When you select ColorIt! the customization process begins.
Select which window feature you want to modify by clicking on the
radio button for that feature. Then click on the color sample
rectangles at the bottom of ColorIt!'s window. The rectangle next
to the radio button will change color to match your selection.
Use the three radio buttons on the right to pick the pattern for
window title bars, either solid, lined, or dithered.
When you have decided on a set of colors, click on the 'Set All Open
Windows' button and all the windows on the desktop will be set
to these colors.
Click on 'Set Standards' if the colors you picked don't end up
looking good, and the standard window colors will be re-set.
The 'Auto-apply colors' check box lets you set your favorite colors
once and have ColorIt! automatically apply these colors to any
new window in any application.
NOTE: Some windows will NOT be set by Auto-apply. Windows which
have their own custom color tables ( like the Finder's windows ) will
NOT show up in the colors you picked. But, once the window is open
you can open ColorIt!, click on 'Set All Open Windows' and they will
change colors.
Some usage considerations....
ColorIt! will always be accurate in 320 mode. But, 640 mode can give
you some suprises, some colors may not appear the way you wanted them.
This is caused by the way the gs generates 16 colors in 640 mode, if
the colors aren't what you wanted you may have to fiddle a bit to get them
right.
For those concerned about The Rules... ColorIt! does not do anything
weird or illegal in it's work, all the code is straightforward and by
the book. There's no screen color table manipulation or record poking.
ColorIt! is and will be compatiable and safe with all gs applications.
