If you automated your library with Circulation Plus, you discovered the advantages of having library circulation information at your fingertips. But, you may have found Circulation Plus did not allow the kind of precision in displaying information that you wanted.  You may have wished you could transfer statistics to your board report or a spreadsheet.  Using CircWorks Plus, you can extract or export library information collected by Circulation Plus, then use the extracted information in your AppleWorks reports.

If you have worked with AppleWorks (as many other Apple IIe or IIGS owners have), you have explored its integrated word processor, database and spreadsheet abilities.  You may have used the database to make mailing labels.  Or you may have printed the database information to the Clipboard, then included each item in a form letter, created in the word processor. If you have AppleWorks version 2.0 or later (or add-on software), you could cut the information from the database to the Clipboard in a mail-merge format, and then paste the mail-merge information into a form letter or "boilerplate" document, created in the word processor.

CircWorks Plus bridges the gap between Circulation Plus and AppleWorks.  CircWorks Plus extracts library information that you have collected with Circulation Plus, and stores it to an AppleWorks database-format file.  You can then use that file in AppleWorks, just like any other AppleWorks database file.  You can rearrange the fields to customize your reports, and can control any other feature that AppleWorks provides.

  29. GETTING STARTED

We assume that you have some familiarity with both AppleWorks and Circulation Plus.  You should have already computerized your library with Circulation Plus.  Your library data should be located on your hard disk, since you will be using that information in selecting data for extracting and exporting to AppleWorks.  This manual describes how CircWorks Plus interacts with AppleWorks, but leaves it up to the AppleWorks manual to describe using the AppleWorks database, word processor and spreadsheet modules in complete detail.

  36. APPLE IIe* OR IIGS* (128K RAM minimum)
  37. Extended 80-column card (IIe)
  38. Video display monitor
  39. Thunderclock* or other
  40. ProDOS* compatible clock (optional)
  41. At least 1 floppy disk drive

Apple type hard disk and connecting cable.  Your hard disk should have at least a 10 megabyte capacity for the 15,000 or 30,000 volume version of Circulation Plus, and 20 megabyte capacity for the 65,000 volume version. If you are using over 900 categories, you'll need extended  memory (RAM card).
