  8.     Backup is a board game for four players (three of whom may be 
  9. computer players). The object is for you to move all four of your pieces from 
  10. your start box to your home box without being "bumped" off by the other 
  11. players. The first player to accomplish this wins the game.

  14. Installation

  17.     Installing Backup from the .ZIP file that this README.TXT file 
  18. was extracted from is extremely simple. (After it has been unzipped).

  20.         1. Start Microsoft Windows.
  21.  
  22.         2. From the File menu in Program Manager, select New.
  23.  
  24.         3. Select Program Item and click OK.
  25.  
  26.         4. Under Description put: Backup.
  27.  
  28.         5. Under Command line put the directory where the Backup 
  29. files are, followed by backup.exe.
  30.             Ex: c:\apl\comm\backup.exe

  32.         6. Under Working Directory put the directory where the
  33. Backup files are and click OK.

  59. Changes from previous versions

  62.     The changes in version 1.4 include substituting left mouse clicks for
  63. double-clicks to make game play easier, restructuring the main menu, the
  64. addition of a single move auto move feature, and the elimination of a few 
  65. bugs.

  68. Playing the game

  71.     The first step is to use the Game-Setup menu command to set up the 
  72. game. The next step is the use the Game-New menu command to begin a new game. The final step is to use the Game-Roll die menu command to begin 
  73. the turn. The rest of the rules are described in the on-line help file or the 
  74. printed manual.

  80.     Backup is a shareware program that has a two week evaluation
  81. period after which a payment of $12 is required. As shareware, Backup was
  82. distributed freely in order to allow people to "test drive" it. The try-
  83. before-you-buy concept allows users to find out which programs are useful
  84. before purchasing them. If a shareware program is useful or entertaining,
  85. please support it through registration. The registration fee for Backup is
  86. only $12 and entitles you to the newest version of the program, a printed
  87. manual, customer support (through the mail or on Compuserve, AOL, Delphi,
  88. GEnie, or the Internet), and information (and discounts) on other offerings
