FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO PLAY DBQUEST READ THE DBQUEST.TXT FILE, OR FOR A
QUICK START, READ THE QWKSTART.TXT FILE.
TO HELP ME MAKE BETTER GAMES, PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTIONS IN THE README.TXT
FILE AND E-MAIL ME THE ANSWERS!
******************************************************************************
Here are some of the things that I plan to add in the future:
A new section of code to give monsters the ability to fight
intelligently. The current monsters simply "point and shoot".
Future monsters will know what characters seem weak, where a good
spot to ambush would be, how to fight with ranged weapons, and how to
cast spells. -- Watch out!
A new section of code that would make chests, crates, and
backpacks into true containers. Currently they limited to being
fake containers <Grin>.
A new section of code to implement ship to ship (or monster)
battles. The current code allows players to "walk" around in the ocean
when they are attacked. The new version will have shipboard cannons to
attack with.
Better graphics. This is a constant battle. No matter what I
do, my graphics will never look as good as I want them to (which is
ok, since I will always be upgrading them). Sometime in the future, this
game will also (probably) support VESA graphics (640 X 480 X 256 and up).
I also am considering doing an EGA/CGA version - but only if enough
people ask for it (E-Mail me - your vote could be the deciding one!)
Better sound. I hope to add background music - a function greatly
lacking in the current game. I also need some good sound effects. They are
terribly difficult to create at home, so this may take a while. In the mean
time, just pop in a tape or CD into your cd/cassette player and listen to
that while you play the game <Grin>.
Mouse support/iconic interface. Hopefully, this will allow the
player to more easily play my game. Since not everyone likes/has a mouse,
I also HOPE to be able to keep the ol' keyboard interface as well.
Light and dark. I hope to have light and darkness added soon. This
alone will add greatly to the realism of the game.
Better distribution of game (perhaps you could help with this).
Since this particular game is FREEWARE (new releases by Futuristic Idea
Studios may/may not be) I am not making any money off of it. And, because
I'm not making any money, I really don't want to rack up a big long distance
phone bill calling the big BBSes. Sooooo if you could UL it to just one BBS,
that would help me out a bunch. Besides - this game is big enough to keep
that ol' UL/DL ratio on the positive side <Grin>.
If you have any questions/suggestions/comments please read the
README.TXT file. It has all the specifics on how to contact me.
